... an IRC support Channel ?

Wouldn't it be a good possiblity to help beginners in a fast, direct way ? even if they don't have installed an irc-client, there is an java client available which can be integrated directly into smf.

Negatory. That has been requested before. The problem with that is it makes a support person feel more obligated to stick around until the issue is solved. In some instances that may take much longer than the person is able to or wants to give. And if thats the case, and I'm going to be hanging out in an IRC for live support I better be getting paid lol.

The biggest disadvantage I see with that, is that a lot of support would not be posted to help others find there way in the forums too.

thougt that it would be nice to talk to the users here a bit more directly.. but ok - i accept your point of view.
