i have tinyportal or would like to use it on my smf 1.1.1 forum. it says that it fails two files. i install it and try it (doing all this through the package manager) and nothing changes. it says it installs and what not but i get no tinyportal information. any help would be great.

If the install fails on the file test it means that the instalation file cannot find the code it is looking for, probably because it has been changed by another mod. Tiny Portal is a very complex mod that is best installed as the first mod after the instalation of SMF.
You didn't say what files failed, but possibly one was index.php or index.template.php. If a file fails on the install you will need to make the file modifications manually.
Another reason you cannot see TP is that you are not viewing in the SMF default theme. TP and most other mods install into the default theme only, if you are using one of the themes from Bloc Zone there is probably a TP version available, if not you will not be able to use that theme without it being converted.
i have used the default theme. i have other mods installed that affected the files that are failing. how do i do it manually.

im downloding the TP_097.zip and im uploding that what am i doing wrong?
Please read in the installations board we have, we dont have any package released that will go with SMF 1.1.1 yet.

I think someone needs to update the TP_097.zip file.
Anyway.
To do it manually...
1. Download the zip I provided (THESE FILES CANNOT BE UPLOADED via PACKAGE MANAGER. THEY ARE THE FEW FILES NEEDED FOR THE MANUAL INSTALLATION)
2. Unzip it.
3. Open up the sources in it, upload them over the sources files
4. Open up the themes in it, upload them over the themes files
5. Upload index.php and SSI.php over the forum root files
---Thats It---
(next time look in the Installations board)
It will not be displayed under the mods but it is easier then installing it through the package manager once you know it ;)

you do the manual install of tiny portal by editing the php coding in the specified files. that is what i did and got tiny portal working with smf 1.1.1
That is a hard way,
an easier way is to download that zip I provided and upload over the old themes, sources, and files.
the images r not working i get a little t hing with a red x over it
Well. Talk to G6 about it. it isn't mine. She posted it in the installations board and I took it out to show you guys. The images are working perfectly fine on my forum and I used those exact files out of that zip. So anyway talk to G6 about your images ;)
The images are from the SMF and TP package, not the zip file i have made. The zipfile only contain the actuall fies you need to edit manually (copy and past) when you install TP the manual way.
If you are missing images they probaby got broken or skipped during the transfer, or the files or folders are set to the wrong permission.
Upload all the image files again and overwrite the old ones, if there are missing images, they will be uploaded to.

i just had to copy the image files over to the specified theme directory. thanks guys

Hey when can we expect a 0.9.8 version for SMF 1.1.1, I think people are getting desperate here lol! Anyways I am having problems too this is actually my first time going to use Tiny Portal on SMF! But I do not want to install it manually I just wish 0.9.8 would come out soon!
Oh I also noticed you guys went with FCKEditor over TinyMCE! I was sad to see that I seriously TinyMCE is way better, for one it is way faster in loading up and has a bit more functionality! Wouldn't it be a bit better if you guys maybe gave choice in which editor user used! Like allow both FCK and TinyMCE and then we could choose?

TP 0.9.8 will be released when its ready. Not sooner, and Not later. WE NEVER GIVE OUT RELEASE DATES. I think maybe I should put that on the front page in BIG BOLD LETTERS. lol TinyMCE was dropped because there are too many problems with it. FCK and Whizzywig work and integrate much easier. No use in have 3 editors.... we keep doing stuff like that TinyPortal won't be Tiny anymore.
