i'm still new to all this, and would like to add some RSS feeds to my site.....what is the best way to do this?

is this something that is built into TP or SMF, or will i need additional software?

You can add an RSS Block with TP. Simply create one, and add the URL, done.

sorry for newb question too- so you just copy and paste the code you get from where you're getting the feed in a tp block?
