Title: Upgrade didn't go well...
Post by: bd2003 on December 15, 2006, 07:38:03 PM
I was sitting at SMF1.1RC2 and TP0.86. Upgraded to SMF1.1 Final, which of course blew out my mods including TP. So, being the reckless ne'er do well that I am, I went ahead and did a TP.97 upgrade.

Eck.

I'm getting a undefined function: tp_doubbc error now. I'm pretty sure it's cuz I jumped straight from .86 to .97, but can someone point me in the right direction to sort this mess out?

Thanks!

Download the manuall install package and upload all the files manually to your forum. Then download the premade zip file from the installations board and extract the files and upload them to your forum. thenn point your browser to the manual_tp_install.php

Offcourse all this with your forum set to use the SMF Default Core theme

Open your eyes and use the search

Ummm. Thanks.

You could have been a little less blunt, but what the hell - I know you're too busy to answer stupid questions.

G6 has other problems, but please search first. G6 has posted a set of files to upload of SMF 1.1 final with TP 0.97 already installed.

I've restored a backup to get the site up and running again. When I get the time I'll try to sort out what all I need to do these upgrades.

dont worry!

just remember the most important bit is your database - as long as u have a backup even if ur server caught fire and then the building exploded

u could still restore your entire site at a new host!

So try a new install of 1.1 - restore DB, run repair settings and give it a go

PS: it may help to try this in a new folder and DB if possible

I still havent learned that yet, How would you go about that if I totally erased everything but my PHPmyAdmin, then started from scratch, how would I upload the database or does it 'remember'. Sorry for the newbie question but... I've already did the restart from scratch thing and had to redo everything.

Well if you have a backup of your database the best thing to do would be to install a fresh install of SMF (same version of SMF that your backup database was installed on) and then restore the backup to your new database using phpMyAdmin or any other tool that will restore the file to your database.

well right now the forum is okay, but I upgraded the board to 1.1 and forgot to uninstall TP then I tried to install TP97 and now it wont let me and says I have a 500 error, when I try to get TP97. But without TP everything is fine.

500 is an internal server error, not much to do with TP I'm afraid. Does it let you install other mods?

500 is usually a permissions thing, isn't it?

Not if its a Server error.

True - I usually see them when my permissions are hosed and the server can't access the files it needs to...

Live and learn... :)
