I am currently running: SMF 1.1 RC3 with TinyPortal v0.9.6beta
I am using Crip's conversions: [Theme] Default_Modern
I would like to use TinyPortal v0.97
I have downloaded TP_097_files_only.zip and manual_tp_install_097.php
I am not sure where to go from here without jeperdizing my nicely running current installation of SMF 1.1 RC3 with TinyPortal v0.9.6beta.
And how do you "run" manual_tp_install_097.php?
Any help is truly appreciated on this.
Did you try the normal installation first? Any particular reason your using the manual way first? Simply uploading the 0.9.7 package to your package manager is the easiest way to update TinyPortal. You should not lose any of your settings etc.
The manual install requires you to upload the files and then run the manual install php file from your brower by pointing to it in the address bar. There's a great doc on installation in the docs board.
Thanks for the reply.
No I have not tried the he normal installation but I will do so later today.
Can I update to .097 from .086 on a SMF 1.1RC3 board ??
Yes
SMF 1.1RC3 board is different from SMF 1.1 Final how? Is it necessary to install the Final?
The major things between the versions are the security fixes, so indeed, always use the newes version out
I am not able to un-install my TP version .086... Will this cause a problem as far as upgrading goes ?
No, if you dont have any other mods beside the TP V.086 you should be good, if you have any other mods installed, i suggest you uninstall them, upgrade the TP mod, and then install the others after that
Ooops... I went ahead and ran it cause it gave no errors and the option to upgrade... It seems to work good... ;D
I am excited about this gallery he is working on. Is there any info around here about what he is planning on doing ?
I need to do a complete redo of one of my sites and I would hate to spend time updating and setting up coppermine if his gallery addition to TP will do the job.
No info what so ever at this time, dont even know if he have started to code a gallery just yet as he have been swamped with a lot of work as is.
As you might have read, there are never any ETA on a releases from Bloc :)
I wasn't worried about a release date....
Just was wondering if he had mentioned somewhere what type of features the gallery would have. I am in no hurry as the quality of work Bloc produces is top notch and there is no point in messing with what works.
Thanks for the feedback though!! ;D
The features have been discussed in the Alpha board some time ago, and for what i know there will only be the most common features in that gallery, about whats in the SMF gallery i think, perhaps even less, but as you said, the quality of Blocs work often resualts in great things, so im not surprised if it will be both good and very easy and userfriendly with the best features a gallery mod can have :)
I would agree... There are only a few things that I would like to see implemented in a gallery script so if he is wondering I would be more than happy to list them.
The SMF gallery lite is very nice but lacks 2 features that I think would make it better. Of course those features are available in the standard version.. Hehehe...
If things work out on my end like they should I need to make it a point to give Bloc a nice donation for all of this work. I must tell you that this is by far the best example of "website / portal" software out there. But I am sure you already knew that. :)
