I've tried to install the new version and it's failed on nearly every change or page to update during the package upgrade. This has happened on both of my forums.
Anyone knows why?
Are you installing on the smf default Theme?
?

No, on the Manuscript theme.
1st you must be on default theme when ever installing mods bro. Second certain files and folders require chmoding make sure that you do that as well. Also copy and paste what its showing you when you attempt install
8. Execute Modification ./index.php Test failed
9. Execute Modification ./Sources/Load.php Test failed
10. Execute Modification ./Themes/default/index.template.php Test failed
11. Execute Modification ./Themes/babylon/index.template.php Test failed
12. Execute Modification ./Sources/Subs.php Test failed
13. Execute Modification ./Sources/ManagePermissions.php Test failed
14. Execute Modification ./Sources/Security.php Test successful
15. Execute Modification ./Sources/Errors.php Test successful
16. Execute Modification ./Themes/default/style.css Test successful
17. Execute Modification ./Themes/default/Help.template.php Test failed
18. Execute Modification ./Sources/Profile.php Test successful
19. Execute Modification ./SSI.php Test successful
As you can see, most of this package failed.

I have always installed thing on their Manuscript and never get problems.
goto those files that failed and make sure they are writable 777 also make sure your on the default theme that is very important when installing mods. Also you dont have tp already installed do you? if so youll have to uninstall it and use a different method for installing it.
bro default theme contains all of the templates where as manuscript does not the only reason you were successful before was because you got lucky im sorry lol.
Before updating be sure that all folders and files have the permission 775 which can be set with your ftp program (chmod).
Also be sure using the default smf theme and english as default language.
I know this is just what Crip and StrmLrd said but i think it would be good to repeat it.
Pyx
I just uninstalled the old one and replaced with the new one. I think in future I will only upgrade when there's actually new features. It would be easier.
If you follow the instructions, you will not end up with errors, new features or not
I do follow the instructions but the same with SMF upgrades, sometimes it's not worth upgrading until there's new features. Many users don't like upgrading 30 mods or themes as well as 1.1 or 1.1rc3 etc.
Thats the hard part when you have other mods installed, thats why we always say that TP should be installed first as it's the biggest MOD for SMF and effects a lot of files. Then after that install the other smaller mods that are easier to manually add as they often have a lot less code to add.
But your error seem to be more of a theme error, YOu must ALWAYS install from the Default SMF core theme, thats where the mods searches for things, and with other themes set as default, the mods will not find the files they need

This may not be a wise decision if there are updates for security reasons. You may get your forum hacked if some exploit comes out in TP or SMF.

These people I know who donb't upgrade say they never recieve problems and can fix the issues themselves.
That may be the case, but if they don't know about the issues then they can't fix them. I guarantee that the hackers know about the exploits before they will. All I'm saying is that its best practice to stay up to date.
not only the hackers but also the spammers.... see botmaster.net - even human verifcation is disabled with this rubbish software... anyway - this doesn't belong to the thread starters info so i'll be quiet now :D
