Hi, I'm sorry if this was covered somewhere before but I'm posting it as new because I don't even know what I'm looking for ;)
We are attempting to install tp via the package manager and for some reason it keeps stalling, freezing up and we receive this error message:
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /****/****/public_html/Sources/Subs-Package.php on line 2925
We just can't seem to get it installed so I spoke to my host about the problem wondering if it was an issue on their end and they responded with this:
"Our webserver server blocks outbound connections to outside servers. We
suspect that when you run your installation for SMF/tinyportal it is attempting to
make an FTP connection to their server. Can you confirm with their support
whether or not the installation does such a thing? If so, we will need to know
what server/ip address it is attempting to connect to."
Honestly, I was confused to begin with and they're confusing me even more, if that's possible.
Would appreciate any help! Our forum is version 1.1 RC 3 and is at http://www.mycof.com
We have some modifications installed and was wondering if we needed to uninstall all mods before attempting again..obviously we are completely new to this. Thanks for your help! - Bon
Your server admin is wrong. There is nothing in the TP or SMF installation that connects to another FTP server.
I would suggest that you uninstall whatever mods you have, switch to the default theme and try installing TP again. If you still have problems, you'll probably need to try the manual install instructions. Others here know a lot more about that than I do. :)
Thank you for replying! Actually we just got it installed a few minutes ago! It was a modification that we didn't install interfering! :buck2: Wow, I thought I was going to have a meltdown today lol Thanks, again!
It doesent connect to an FTP server during the install, but well to SMF sites news letters and updates checks.
So it might be that this can cause you sme troubble, sometimes even when just opening the admin panel in SMF can take time when SMF is down or the server is to heavy loaded so the connection take over 30 sec.
This have been said before with a whish to be able to turn that function off.
Cant say when or where or even what IP to open up for your host, that is something you need to ask over at SMF.
