Title: Uninstalling TP
Post by: niblem on November 07, 2006, 01:39:16 AM
Hello everyone.

I am in the process removing my mods + TP so I can install SMF 1.1RC3 and TP0.96 but nowhere in my Package manager do I see anything that says to remove TP?

Since I don't see it can I just install SMF1.1RC3 and the new TP without worries?

If anyone has info please help me as soon as possible, I've already got my forum on maintenance  :-\ Thanks!

It would be helpful to know what your old version of SMF and TP is; but if you upload and overwrite all files in the SMF folder, run the update/upgrade for SMF, then install TP over that, all should work.

Sorry for my lack of information.

I'm currently running 1.1RC2 with 0.86

* I know this is not the SMF support forum * >> I tried to upload the upgrade package of SMF1.1RC3 and it says "The package you tried to upload either is not a valid package or has become corrupted. "

So do you think I should try FTP the files?

Yes, FTP all the files in the upgrade SMF package to your server. (Unzip them first to your PC) Overwrite all the files on your server ( I actually just delete them off my server first, then upload the new files -- faster ;) ) Upgrades to SMF are never run through the package manager.

Delete all themes.. you will need new ones anyways.

Ok, will try this.

But, I don't want to sound stupid (already accomplished that? lol)  By deleting all these files won't I thereby lose information and items such as: images, attachments, files etc with information?  I know everything is stored in a database and I do have a recent backup, but I'm truely at a lose as to what exactly to delete without causing damage.

Forgot: I use the default theme right now, but have added custom images in the image folder (ranks, buttons, etc) and that is my true worry, losing those and etc.

all ur mods, custom modifications to default themes etc will be lost on upgrade

so u will have to reinstall all the mods including TP

but all the posts topics, attatchments etc will remain intact

I realize I will lose all mods (I actually already uninstalled them all)  What I'm worried about losing is my custom images and buttons i've made for my forums if I happen to overwrite a folder with them contained in them (Themes/default/images) for example.

Ok, then delete just the themes folder, and overwrite all the rest of the files. Be sure the package you use is the upgrade package, it has the complete themes files.
The database will not lose any info.

Edit -  just read your last post.  then download to your PC the default theme images you wish to save. You can replace them in the upgrade package before you upload (FTP) it back to your server. The settings (# of stars per member group is a database entry - so it should not be lost)

Also by having the back-up of your old images, you can access any you forget.

Also, for future refference, always make a copy of the default theme, give it a new name, and modify that theme as all upgrades to SMF will overwrite the default theme.

Latest Update:
Uploaded SMF 1.1RC3 - Installed TP0.96 through package manager

Then, I clicked refresh and this is what I get:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: tp_loadtheme() in /home/globalav/public_html/forum/Sources/Load.php on line 1114

I really hope I haven't messed something up irreversibly...

Ok, I tried searching the TPortalAdmin.php file on lines 1225 and 1226 but that code does not appear.

I cannot do a whole DB reinstall or a fresh reinstall of SMF because I have downloads and images I MUST save that are on the website and cannot be deleted.  On a side note, im trying to reupload the files but for some reason Filezilla is uploading 1 file @ a time, every 5 seconds or so, so its very, very slow.

Sorry everyone, I'm just really lost.

Hang in there niblem, sometimes it is only a single file that is messed up. And if your FTP program is working that slow, it is possible a dropped packet messed a file up.

Do you have a file manager tab on your web-host control panel you could use? or a server FTP program? or just thw windows access for FTP?

This is the FTP Program i use most of the time (FileZilla) (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=21558&package_id=15149)
Download the version of it that suits your PC specification (32 bit or 64 bit) and install, add the correct FTP url,  login and password :)

Update:
Got all the correct files uploaded.  Forums were working perfect w/o TP 0.96 installed.

After installation of TP via the package manager, I received the same message:
QuoteFatal error: Call to undefined function: tp_loadtheme() in /home/globalav/public_html/forum/Sources/Load.php on line 1114

I read that other post also, and don't seem to have much luck.  I looked into my TPortalAdmin.php and I don't even have the part of the code the suggest changing.

What theme are you using and what theme did you hve as default when you installed TP ?
The error usually comes when you have the wrong theme installed for the setup you have

I use the default theme actually, which is why I am worried.

I have deleted both the classic and babylon themes from my directory.

Right now, I have SMF 1.1RC3 installed with TP installed, but showing that error.  No clue where to go from here.

No problem G6, you've helped me in the past and I know your situation.  I'm just worried about my members of the forums not having access.

Do you think I should re-upload manual TP and then edit the files the recommend, then run manual_tp?

Ok.  I have reuploaded SMF 1.1RC3 and do NOT have TP0.96 installed.  The forums work just fine, but I obviously am missing my downloads, etc

Where should I go from here?

if you are comfortable with the manual install, try that. But first, is it possible for you to do a 2nd SMF installation for testing purposes on your server?
I would install SMF to root/testsmf folder, then try to install TP there.
Remember the database will need a different prefix from the first installation.
