I decided to create a directory just for SMF websites and those websites that connect to SMF sites.
Smfoogle (http://www.smfoogle.com)
See you there!
Those site that connect to SMF sites = A website that features something else, but has a link to a support forum that runs SMF. For example, Xml-sitemaps.com
is it free?
Naturally.
hey u dont have a religion section there :(
i see it i see it!
hey it says
Quote
A link to http://www.smfoogle.com/ could not be found at the specified URL.
i just put it there myself:
http://path-to-peace.net/forum/index.php
look at the bottom left under the google page rank thingie
Ah finally went through after I temporarily moved the block right to the top
Quote
Link submitted and awaiting for approval.
Submit another link.
How odd.
I'm not requiring a linkback to the directory.
"Require reciprocal link = No."
I wonder why it's doing that ?
I'll just remove the reciprocal link field altogether and see if that helps.
If you keep your link, that's great. I'm sure backlinks will boost the directory's PR over time, which will in turn link to other sites in the future. However, if you want to remove the backlink, that's cool too.
what site category would you put your site in Aku? because I cant find one for mine ???
Aku,
You have a nice site. Nice colors. You should see a small snapshot image of your forum inside the directory now.
I have just tried to reg with the site and it says
QuoteInvalid email address format.Sorry, but that e-mail address is already registered to a user.
never been there before!
How strange.
I registered a test user account in order to test the site before opening. An I have 2 other people that joined. PM me with your information and I'll see if I can create an account.
cool
ill keep the link - its a good service - hopefully it will encourage others to enter it too and pick SMF ratings up when the bots come crawling the directory :D
..and a Regional or similar catagory for non english sites?
I could not figure out where to add my site so I guess I will wait and check back later on.

I'll create a general "Non-English SMF sites" category. Do you have any ideas for sub-categories?
I give up :( it just don't like me :tickedoff:

Tell you what. PM me with all the relevant information, and I'll add your link manually.
I changed the directory's template and I have updated the directory software.
To provide more exposure, indeed if there is any exposure left to provide, I put a link to Tinyportal under the "Our Partners" section of the directory -- located along the left hand side. I realize that Tinyportal is well known and is extremely popular, but I figured that I'd place another link back to TP. (Let me know if it generates any traffic for you guys. :D )
Tinyportal is to SMF as peanut butter is to jelly.
As always, the directory is still free.
As of right now, there are 57 links inside the directory.
Happy Holidays !!

But my site is much more than that, it supports SMF and Tiny Portal, as well as Themes for SMF and Tiny Portal.
So I am still no sure.
No doubt !
However, people have typed in a description of their website. Just check out a few of the sites inside that category, or elsewhere (http://www.smfoogle.com/index.php?list=latest).
Update:
[1.] Sites can be listed according to pagerank.
[2.] Backlinks from various search engines listed in "Link Details".
[3.] Site has moved from shared hosting to VPS.
[4.] Page rank building program announced here (http://www.smfoogle.com/network.php).
[5.] As always, submission is free.
Template has been updated.
Nice clean design. :)
The Simple Machines Forum Directory (http://www.smfoogle.com) is proud to announce the beginning of a SMF link exchange.
- Like having a listing in our directory, this is a free service.
- In order to participate in this, you must be listed in our directory.
I have created several link exchange buttons (80x15), each of which reflects the particular directory advertising the particular forum software.
Please do not hotlink these button images from my directories; please place them and reference them from your own website. Bandwidth ain't cheap!! (else, I'll have to disable hotlinking with .htaccess)

All these blog buttons were made online @ http://kalsey.com/tools/buttonmaker/ ... Therefore,
if you want to change the color scheme of the buttons to match your site, please do so.
However, to have an element of consistency in the face of color diversity, please leave the text "as-is". In other words, the left box should read "
SMF" and the right box should read "
SWAP".
- Only those sites listed in our directory will be eligible to participate in this because the "random sites" are drawn from our database.
At the time of this post, there are
412 sites listed in our directory from a total of
543 submissions; this means that I have denied
131 sites that bear no relevancy with the SMF forum software.
The .HTML code to embed into your site
<a href="http://www.smfoogle.com/random.php" target="_blank"><img alt=" " src="*****INSERT THE IMAGE FROM YOUR SERVER HERE******" border="0" width="80" height="15"/></a>
The BBC code to use in forum signatures and in forum posts

Happy exchanging!
Note :: The single .php file, http://www.smfoogle.com/random.php, uses the following command to forward people to other sites; this is not done automatically when people visit smfoogle.com (of course) only when someone clicks on the SMF SWAP banner ...
header("Location: $url");
- Please post your suggestions and comments in this thread!
If you see a site that has changed their forum software from SMF to something else,
Contact us (http://www.smfoogle.com/contact.php) and we'll remove it after verification.
Strange, but anytime I try to access SMFoogle, I am asked to save download the site as a document, so I can't even see the site...
