Hi,
I just released a seo package for smf. It's still in beta and I need your opinion and tests :)
For a Demo just look on my site: http://www.webmasterstalks.com
It's working with SMF1.1RC3 and TinyPortal 0.96.
For more just read this port: http://www.webmasterstalks.com/seo_4_smf/seo4smf_introduction_and_bla_bla-t700.0.html
Regards
oohh nice
ill test it later today on my test forum
Just give us a link to see how the tests are going :)
Regards
so where is this package ??
no change on my test board - the url's stay like they were before even after turning search engine friendly url's
strange
lesmond the download package is in the download section of that site
Just check out http://www.webmasterstalks.com. I already sent the package to smf site ... but probably only in few days will be approved.
Regards

I can see your test site ? Do you enable: "Search engine friendly URLs" from your admin section ?
how are the url's : index.php?topic=xxx.xxx or index.php/topic,xx.xx.html ?
Regards
yup enabled it but url's stay like this
http://goofy-goobers.com/forum/index.php?action=forum
Is not installed. Do you have the right permissions on your forum root ? And it seems "Search engine friendly URLs" are not enable ...
Regards
well both are enabled
mod installed - permission ticked
but no workie for me - dnno why
Your urls are like /index.php?topic=xxx .... that means seo is not enabled (standard smf seo not my package).
you don't have /sitemaps.php or urllist.php in your root forum. That means the mod is not installed :)
yup now its uninstalled cos it made my package manager unaccessible
so had to delete manually
didnt work for me and everything was installed properly too
***added***
ps: ill give it another try tomorrow - im gona re-do that test site anyways
I retested the mod on a new installed smf and a heavy patched smf and is working perfect :) .
Anyway the all problems can come from right permissions on your SMF folders or from apache configuration.
Regards
Hi,
0.1 is final. Now I just wait to see what else do you need.
Right now the version 0.1 is adding this features:
1. It's adding beatifull urls. Your url will look like:
Board: http://www.forum-example.com/the-board-name-id/
Topic: http://www.forum-example.com/the-boa...c-name-id.html
2. Change your meta tags kewords and descriptions.
3. Create sitemap and url list for Google and Yahoo
4. Redirecting old pages (if you already had "Search engine friendly URLs") enabled.
Regards
 good work it is very useful
ill retry this today sometime once i get around to uploading the new SMF + TP on to the test site
thanks
I have just put it on my test site and I dont see any difference!
1. Enable SEO from your admin area
2. Rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess
3. Check if you have the right permissions on that folder !
4. Give me a link to your forum to see what is the problem :)
Regards
@ sacx pm sent
Just one thing I noticed that these 3 files seo4smf-redirect.php sitemaps.php urllist.php where empty! in the forum root, so I copied over all the content from the packages, but still no luck ???
Les
Like I said on your forum I get an internal server error.
But I also noticed that those files where empty...
harro to get rid of that error - go via FTP and delete the zip file for the mod
it will fix it up
Nope, still get the error.
But I saw in my error log that it couldn't compile a regular expression.
Only works if I comment these 2 lines out:
RewriteRule ^(.*)-t([0-9]*).([0-9]*).html;((?:from|msg|new|)[0-9]*);(.*)$ index.php?dummy=1&topic=$2.$4&$5 [L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)-t([0-9]*).([0-9]*).html;((?:from|msg|new)[0-9]*) index.php?dummy=1&topic=$2.$4 [L]
But I don't know enough about htaccess to fix it myself.
Replace this 2 rules with:
RewriteRule ^(.*)-t([0-9]*).([0-9]*).html;((\?:from|msg|new)[0-9]*);(.*)$ index.php?dummy=1&topic=$2.$4&$5 [L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)-t([0-9]*).([0-9]*).html;((\?:from|msg|new)[0-9]*) index.php?dummy=1&topic=$2.$4 [L]
I don't know why youu have empty files ... probably SMF desn't know to work corectlry with tar.gz ? I will try to make the package .zip !
Regards
Lesmond this is not the latest version :)
Regards
It seems SMF doesn't like tar.gz ... so here is the latest version of seo4smf.zip
sorry sacx i will delete that one :(
Lesmond tell me if is working on your site !
Regards
tank your very much sacx. this is super work
..
1. i installed mod but i have "404 page not found" error.
http://mysite.com/home130c/www/seo4smf-redirect.php?b=46.0
2. we use some special turkish fonts. if topic has that type characters links is not good.. for example
topic title: bilişim suÇları (has turkish fonts)
and result: http://mysite.com/bili%FEim_su%E7lar%FD-t9014.0.html
but i want to show like this:
http://mysite.com/bilisim_suclari-t9014.0.html
as you see i want to change turkish fonts with similar latin fonts.
is it possible ?

RC3 TP 0.9.6
http://historyhuntersinternational.org/ (http://historyhuntersinternational.org/)
Just installed SEO 4 SMF, using zip in above post.
Followed instructions, especially re .htaccess and enabling "Search engine friendly URLs".
I'd appreciate advice: is it working?

Thanks!
It's not working because you have php-cgi not a standalone php ... request to your host a full php. (SMF doesn't allow you to enable "Search engine friendly URLs")
Regards
Harro ! the link is outdated ... just remove the link or add just http://www.webmasterstalks.com
Regards
I've got this installed on my forum, no problems yet.

The Pros: Google Ads seem to be more relevant.
