Hi,
I have jus installed a fresh new SMF RC3 on my host and imported my DB in successully
Have also installed a couple of themes on the board
I intend to install TP on my board
I tried installing by using the install package in my admin panel but it gave mi this error
"Some of the files the package manager needs to modify are not writable. This needs to be changed by logging into FTP and using it to chmod or create the files and folders. Your FTP information may be temporarily cached for proper operation of the package manager.
530 Authentication failed, sorry"
I have chmoded all the files to 777 except new theme folders as it gave mi some kinda "not supported on remote site" error ..
therefore end up I am unable to install tiny portal
im a rookie on this...
need help :)
thanx
Download the TinyPortal Files only package and extract the package to your local machine, then FTP them all up to your forum.
Then, go back to the forum, REMOVE the custome themes you have installed as they will not work when you have TP installed. Also remove the themes you installd manually from the themes folder in the forum
Set your forum to SMF default CORE theme.
Then download this zip file http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=9632.0;attach=6630
Extract the files on your local machine, upload them to your forum through FTP or Cpanel, and overwrite the existing ones. Then point your browser to the file (manual_tp_install.php ) like this
http://www.yourdomain.com/forum/manual_tp_install.php and then refresh your forum and then look for the themes you want to install from here http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=cat344 or from here http://www.familjegodis.se/forum register and look in the download section.
I am only able to use TP + SMF themes if I installed TP on my smf?
SMF themes will not work on my board ?
Only SMF themes will not work if you have Tp installed
They will work, but you won't see the TP features if its not a SMF+TP theme.

have overwrite the files
but problem still persists
have run the file repair_settings.php on my forum
but i see my forum header and stuffs but no boards and posts were visible..
The admin panel states TP is already installed in the packages section
heres my forums' url
http://www.fusion-x.org/tp/index.php
btw do i need to edit any of the files in order for the TP to work with my smf since u doing the manual install way?
Seems like you have broken files or similar.
Can you check so you have all the SMF files and that they are complete, the same with the TP files from the manual install package ?
http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=get443
Download and extract, upload them manually and make sure they get uploaded correct.
i overwrite all files again
first i extract and overwrite all smf 1.1 RC3 files
then TP_096_files_only.zip then finally[1].1rc3_TP_V_096_premade_manual_install_files.zip to check if all files are available?
will this work?
Quote1rc3_TP_V_096_premade_manual_install_files.zip
Those files are files that the code you need to add manually to when you do the manuall install of TP to your SMF forum
You have to upload them to your forum and replace the files allready there in order to get the code for TP in them.
So yes, upload the SMF files from the update package and check so there are no errors from any of the files during the process. ( Here you make sure you have a backup of the settings.php and the settings.bak.php files), those have to be intact.
Then the same with the manuall install package for TinyPortal
And when you have done that, upload and overwrite the the files with the files from the premade files.
ok
I have tried reinstalling a fresh new copy of smf 1.1 RC3
then after tat I imported my old DB into myphpadmin
After tat, I installed TP_096_files_only.zip and after tat I installed [1].1rc3_TP_V_096_premade_manual_install_files.zip and run manual_tp_install.php.
Finally I run repair_settings.php to confirm all paths are correct.
But problem still persists
check this out
www.fusion-x.org/portal/
but this time round my admin panel(packages) doesnt show tat TP was installed...
You dont have TP installed, i can see that from the copywrite in the bottom.
Please download and use FileZilla FTp instead of what you use now, your FTp program you use dont upload the files correct.
It works now!
thanx alot man...
HAd been using Ws_ftp for many yrs...never knew it would cause such problem
