Is there actually a reasonably simple way - without rewriting the index.template.php completely - to generate a start page via TP exclusively for logging in when guests cannot access forum content? Comparable with facebook e.g.
Intrigued about you question, but no clue what it is you are looking for...
In case you want to deny guests access to the forum, but there should be the possibility of registration, with SMF and TP normally the top-section, the header and in the wrapper the menu with the links home and forum are displayed. In the middle the window with the login or registration.
But I would like to see a separate page with a completely different layout. A large image on one side with welcome text and in the other half of the screen the login. In addition, one is nowadays EU-legally compelled, imprint, data protection regulation etc, also on guests accessible pages to present. etc.
I will illustrate this with the help of the two pictures. The first shows what can be seen by default with SMF and TP with "uninvited guests".
In the second picture I have framed the area for login or registration brightly and the lower dark area for copyright, imprint etc..
For this you would normally have to rewrite the complete index.template.php.
