I can't recall any "amazing" sites off the top of my head. But I do remember seeing a few that I thought were very good. One of was Bec's site here. I don't remember the domain name off the top of my head, but it was something to do with Brides. Although, I think she is in the middle of a redesign since the last time I saw it.

I haven't looked at Zetans for a while either, but I've always thought he had a nice site.

Thanks! lol, that was unexpected.

Regarding my site.. it's been on hold for quite a while now due to continued ISP issues and then falling out with my provider (it's still online, in my sig). After having a fairly solid connection while I was running 2 audio streams for a long time, then the connection was either so slow (often below dial-up speeds) that I couldn't host even the slowest bitrate stream that we had, 64kbps.. or having no connection at all for weeks at a time.

This went on for over six months.. After the polite and lengthy phone calls to India, my very local support service. I ranted and raved with them between broken English sessions, had new routers, filters and cables sent out to no avail.. each night I'd get home from work and there was that unwelcoming orange status indicator informing me that.. "Ha ha, you have no connection to the outside world!"

And through all of this.. Not once did they send out an engineer to check the lines, the junction box that's bursting with wires, I'm an electrician so I did have a poke around.. The box was so messy with neighbours connections that I didn't want to disturb the nest of wires too much in case the whole house went off line.

And still they continued to bill me. I couldn't maintain the site properly and I couldn't spend much time here, which I enjoy.. when I have the time online to get stuck in.

So after nearly a year now with no new ISP (because BT in the UK has the monopoly and regardless of ISP, the lines still route through BT exchanges.. what's the point?) my site is still in a state of limbo with hardly any activity.

funny my site was mentioned today as last night I was thinking of closing it altogether and then this evening I wanted to crack on with it and revamp the home page.

Anyhoo.. That's where it's at. A lengthy explanation but the experience with BT over the last 18 months has been far lengthier and frustrating.

Yeah I know that one.  Is your ISP Orange by any chance ?  I'm just about to drop them as it happens as I can't live with the 'support' they provide.

BT was my provider and I had no complaints for years. Then after refusing to pay the bill for the service they couldn't provide, they had a debt collection agency contact me informing me that they were going to collect payment. I phoned them and told them I would not be settling the bill under any circumstance and that they should hit up BT to provide details of logs of calls to their support call center... I haven't heard from them since.

Recently I had a letter inviting me back. "Since you left us, we've made changes.. blah blah". I haven't responded yet, but if I do, they will have to reconnect me FREE of charge with 6 months FREE connection for what they billed me for.

Getting back on topic. I've seen some awesome sites showcased here, how many of those are still running, I have no idea.

Back on TP V098 Elvpn hade an amazing site about movies, he did put a lot of time into it and used both articles and blocks to an extension that looked like a real pro site for movies

And i agree, Zetans site were one of the better seen, but also there he put in a LOT of time to get what he wanted. To get SMF and TP to look pro, you need to spend time building on the site, thats where TP comes in, easy to use with grate functions, but you NEED to make it personal and put in time on it, otherwise it will just be a site among others.

Thanks again :) my site pales in comparison to some.

Here are some of the sites that I think are excellent and showcase the best of SMF and TP

http://www.sourcetunes.com/index.php - A very professional looking site employing a superb adaptation of Bloc's Mesh theme.

Link Removed Site is no longer SMF/TP based - Not a genre I have any interest in, but a site well presented and maintained.

http://www.blabbster.com/index.php - Not sure what happened to Lord Anubis' other site. NextSite, but I like the integration and clever use of custom block code snippets. IIRC, Wilsy was heavily involved with bugging the code team to help write a lot of the scripts.

http://www.rewindlancs.com/forum/index.php - Wilsy's site, or was. I'm not sure if he ever did sell it. It started life as a local Lancashire site.. How it evolved to become a great looking motorcycle site, I'm not sure.

http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=29134.0 - Bec's site, previously mentioned. It was a very nice site. What happened Bec?

http://www.scclan-gamers.com/ - Quite a nice site, often gaming sites are very visual.

http://www.thepoliticalcapital.com/ - A unique look with a theme by StormLrd.

http://www.thirdeyeconcept.com/news/index.php - An informative site, well presented. Looks different with a new theme from Bikken since I last looked.

http://www.planet-core.com/ - Understated site but well presented.

There was a site showcase topic that I posted in, it had a black theme a was a music based site. I really liked the site but I just cannot find it now. It would have been up near the top of the list.

Most of the sites look inherently portal based, block like. That's the nature of it. I think there could be better use of the front page and TP.net thanks to Bloc often does have a front page that doesn't look so modular. It's the best example of such a site that I can think of.

That's it? Just post a link to one of your sites with no description of why it's "Amazing"?

If this topic gets to the point of a link and run, it will be locked. I'm sure you can do better than that.

I am very sorry, I didn't intend to offend anyone, but the topic is 'Any amazing TP based sites?', not why they are amazing.  ;)

Ok, so this site is amazing because it looks great, works well, and has many features the old site could only dream of.

Such as:

Uploading at the old site required e-mailing a file to an admin, who often as not were AWOL for months at a time. New site has new admins who are there every day. Uploading is done by the members, with a progressive post count based permission system.

Expanded pilot profiles, (Ultimate Profiles) allows members to create a member page to their liking, as little or as much personal info as wanted.

Multiple themes, user selectable. Easily changed default theme, new themes easily added.

Soupe du Jour, News, PD Poll, and POTD, featured on the front page, are created as topics, which automajicly get posted on the front page.

Gallery... users can show off their levels, music, whatever...

Little things like the users online, new posts listed, and much more. These things did not exist on the old site. Even the new posts indicator never did work quite right.

And much more. So, does this sound awesome to you? Oh, I should add, the old site is hosted on IGN servers, and they had withdrawn support some time ago. And due to what we can only guess are anti-spam features added globally, posts were limited to 100 characters, many characters banned, even hitting the enter key in a post would fail the post.

We still yet have to fill in the files section, we have links and articles to add. But yeah, it is a work in progress, and I hope it always will be!

You're welcome :)

If I missed any other "Amazing" sites, and I'm sure I have.. It's simply because I wasn't prepared to trawl through every showcase topic and check them all out. I picked most from memory.. The one's that stood out, and a few random ones I found. Some of the team have very nice sites too, Ken's, G6's.. off the top, I'm sure some people have their own preferences. Feel free to share.

I've looked at your site before. I like what you have done with the theme. The logo looks a little low res to me. Perhaps 150dpi? If you can recreate it, I'd suggest at least print quality, 300dpi. You can always optimize the file size a little if the image is slow loading. Other than that, I think your site is good :)

ZarPrime, I don't think Spize has changed the theme yet. I could be wrong though.. but it looks the same to me.

Z,

Yeah, the other post Spize made where he talked about the new theme is here ...
http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=22394.msg251943#msg251943

He mentioned that the old theme was theme #36 and the new one was theme #37.  I guess I should have posted there instead of here.  To reiterate, the ...
old theme link is --> http://www.massillon.com/index.php?theme=36
new theme link is --> http://www.massillon.com/index.php?theme=37

They both look good, but I think I like the #37 theme better.  Sorry about that.

Thanks :) The playlist tracks are the sort of thing I'd play when we were running live streams, we may get back to that again sometime as that was the original basis of the site.

The player is Wimpy Rave (http://"www.wimpyplayer.com"), a licensed version of Wimpy player. I designed the skin.
