I don't mean to upload from your computer.  I mean to upload a file to the server in advance then go to the download manager and add it to a category.  Uploading it to a certain folder can be a requirement.

This type of functionality was implented in Coppermine and they required the files in a certain folder (or subfolders from in that area).  It was a batch add so all you had to do was select the files (or folders) that you wanted to add and then follow through filling in the required fields.  I don't think this should be too hard to to.  I tried to use a http url as the file to upload but it didn't work (ended up with a 0 byte file) but gave me an idea.

This should be an administrator only option.

Good idea, shinji. I can already see this being useful, especially when adding large files or many files.

Exactly.  I connect using a modem.  The script will timeout before i can even get a 1MB file up using a script upload.  I actually have to ftp upload and then batch add.

Question about this which is sort of relavant.

Is there a way to allow approved members (not admins) to upload files.  I only see where admins are the only ones allowed to upload a file?

  Example:

I have 88 users.  Out of the 88 users 30 of them are full time members.  I would like these full time members to have the ability to upload their match game demos so that the other members (ONLY) can view them for tactical purposes. The have a download section that can have permissions so that all 30 members have access to just that area of the moduels. Can this be accomplished?

Yes, this is exactly what its use are for. Assign a membergroup for them, put them in it, and check the permission"can upload" in "admin / permsissions" for that group.

Then , if you want the uploads approved at once, check "settings" in "manage downlaods" section and find: "All uploads must be approved?". Set that to "no".

If you set it to yes, all uploads must be approved by someone with "manage downloads" permission.

Ahh...  I already had them in their own usergroup.   I just didn't go into the permissions for that member group.  As usual, you all rock.  I'm set.  I do have another issue about the header data showing userdata AND in TP there's another user section too.  I think that I have that figured out but I keep getting parsing errors.  I'll get more specific in another thread if I can't get it figured out.

Thanks all,

Thunder
