Do you see the package in the list? Did you get any errors on package upload?

Did you use the package located in the sticky a top this board?

Upload the files manually from the manual install package from the download section. extract the package and upload the files (if it prompt you about overwrite other files, say yes to all)
Refresh and see if you got the portal installed.
If you get a blank page, point the browser to the upgrade.php file in your forum root and let it upgrade your DB.

If you STILL get a blank page or errors, you need to edit some files manually to (copy and paste)
Or use the premade files in the sticky post, extract them, upload overwrite when it prompt, and then refresh.

Note that using the premade files will make other mods not work, but from your image i saw that you doesent seem to have any other mods installed, so you would be ok to use them

I uploaded Manual install "stuff" to my SMF forums directory. (Not in some folder)
But what then? And i didn't find out that upgrade.php...

the files is called "manual_tp_install_0971.php"   point the browser to it
Point the browser to it, and then follow this step if the forum gives you error or a blank screen.

QuoteIf you STILL get a blank page or errors, you need to edit some files manually to (copy and paste)
Or use the premade files in the sticky post, extract them, upload overwrite when it prompt, and then refresh.

I think I'v got the same problem with 1.1.2.. new install and for this reason

I'm not going to upgrade in the "old forum" ( 1.1.1 TP 0.9.7.)

In 2 different servers ( 1 protected) I've got this :

Fatal error: packageinstall() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/giallowc/domains/izitaly.com/public_html/forum/Packages/temp/./tp_install.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/giallowc/domains/izitaly.com/public_html/forum/Sources/Packages.php on line 552

and are always those after several attempt, still TP look unzipped in the Admin Panell - servers-

I've also tried the manual install following step by stepÃ,  theÃ,  above reportd Url

(by G6)Ã,  and only the errors look differentÃ,  :P

Possibly the 1.1.2 is not really compatible with 0.9.7 1 in most servers

I have tp 9.7.1 installed with smf 1.1.2  a friend of mine installed it for me.  I tried to install it with the same set up on a test forum.  I have the test forum so I can learn on it.  Anyway when I installed it today it was missing the forum button it showed the home button but not the forum button.  the only way to get to the forum way through the front page article.  I have since deleted this forum to start over. I should have let someone look at it but from what I have said does anybody have any ideas what could have caused this.

seems as though it did not install correctly, some of the TP Templates do not appear correct. Of course is didn't install right on the default theme either as it does not show the forum button as you say.

This was a fresh install of SMF and TP to a clean Database?

How did you install SMF and did you get any errors when installing TP?
Title: Re: Can't Install TP to SMF 1.1.2
Post by: tick on March 09, 2007, 12:57:05 AM
yes I deleted the other one i previosly mentioned.  started out new with fresh install of smf and tp.   I used the same setup that was used on my live forum.  I am just trying to learn my way around.  there was no errors its said successful install. also when you go into the admin section all of the tp stuff is blank

Do want to seem rude just trying to get it all straight in my head, the folder was completely empty when you installed as was the data base?

And also where did you get the TP to install?
Title: Re: Can't Install TP to SMF 1.1.2
Post by: tick on March 09, 2007, 01:04:39 AM
to the best of my knowledge it was empty I used the package installer.  I got the tp from here the one that was upgraded for 1.1.2  and you are not being rude at all.  log in with test   test for password and look around its just the test site

That is strange, no errors on install and still it is not correct, I see that IchBinâ„¢ is on site, perhaps he knows better what to try on this. The only other thing I would try is a manual install.

I am lost on this one right now, I am really confused as to why it did not install correctly.

That would be the route I would take if it doesn't install right. Without looking at the server logs to see if anything else is happening I usually just go straight to a manual install.

after I extract the zip folder what section do I upload all these files to.
Title: Re: Can't Install TP to SMF 1.1.2
Post by: IchBin on March 09, 2007, 03:05:18 AM
You extract them just as they are. So if you see a Sources and Themes folder you'll upload them as if they're going in those same folders that are in your site.

i called myself doing this  I carefully followed the direction and when i got to the part about pointing my browser to  the db manual install.  it gave me a 404 error directory not found .  so then I tried to go to my test site and it could not be found.  so I cleared everything out and will try again tomorrow when my head is clear.  I have been working on this for way too long.  Thanks  everyone for the help.

Permission errors tick

Check the permissions for Tportal.php in the sources folder
Or try and replace the file and see if it helps

You would have got that much later if you followed the instructions in the sticky post for manual installation ;)
Anyway, glad you got it figured out in the end :)

Well the thing is I did follow the directions.  I just had downloded the tp twice.  And when I removed one after I downloded the manual one .  I removed the wrong one.   Believe  me I read and followed those directions.   18 TIMES....

First off, start a new thread about your issues. Dont cut in to another thread like that.
Second, use the search, you will have a lot of answers to what you can do to make it happend.
Third, the posting guid for a forum is where you should start when you are new to a site, that way you wont get replies like this i just gave you ;)

yes I deleted the other one i previosly mentioned.  started out new with fresh install of smf and tp.   I used the same setup that was used on my live forum.  I am just trying to learn my way around.  there was no errors its said successful install. also when you go into the admin section all of the tp stuff is blank
For future reference I had this same problem with the .98 version.  so I got to  looking and found the problem.  On a fresh install on smf1.1.2 the language was set to english utf.  When I changed it to english it worked fine.  It was such a simple solution I previously overlooked it.

Oh, if it's a language problem...if you want you can go to Forum Maintenance in your admin panel and convert back to normal...

Yes that is what I did.  Just if you look back at some of the previous post in this thread you will see it had some of us stumped.  I was just letting everyone know in case someone else had this problem
