Made a start on this, but there's a few issues with mods missing which had content being pulled from certain blocks, and something is screwing with the TinyPortal layout which I'm yet to find.

The cause is found, it is caused by a bug in SMF 2.0.18.
No problem in 2.0.17 and also no problem in SMF2.1

Issue reported at SMF:
https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=577637

The bug also affects the Frontpage topics (if these exceed the maximum number of characters set) and the TPDowloads descriptions on the category pages.

The fix for SMF 2.0.18 is in the Load.php file in the /sources folder:

Find:
Code: [Select]
'substr' => function($string, $start, $length = null) use ($utf8, $ent_check, $ent_list, $modSettings)
{
$ent_arr = preg_split('~(' . $ent_list . '|.)~' . ($utf8 ? 'u' : '') . '', $ent_check($string), -1, PREG_SPLIT_DELIM_CAPTURE | PREG_SPLIT_NO_EMPTY);
return $length === null ? implode('', array_slice($ent_arr, $start)) : implode('', array_slice($ent_arr, $start, $length));
},

Replace by:
Code: [Select]
'substr' => function($string, $start, $length = null) use ($utf8, $ent_check, $ent_list, $modSettings)
        {
            $ent_arr = preg_split('~(&#' . (empty($modSettings['disableEntityCheck']) ? '\d{1,7}' : '021') . ';|"|&|<|>| |.)~' . ($utf8 ? 'u' : '') . '', $ent_check($string), -1, PREG_SPLIT_DELIM_CAPTURE | PREG_SPLIT_NO_EMPTY);
            return $length === null ? implode('', array_slice($ent_arr, $start)) : implode('', array_slice($ent_arr, $start, $length));
        },

It works for me too..

If you open up the console log in your browser of choice and look at the http request when performing that Ajax action. What response do you get?

I can’t replicate it here so it’s something to do with your config and I’m guessing the 200 OK response being blocked.

Hello and thank you for reading my post.

While working with some portal blocks troubleshooting some things, I discovered the following issue when activating and deactivating portal blocks using the red and green Activate buttons in the Tiny Portal Admin 'Block' Area.

Steps to repeat issue:

1. Access Tiny Portal Admin menu
2. Select 'Blocks'
3. Click a green block of an active block in the 'Activate' column to disable the block. This should cause the activate column button to turn red.
4. Now click this or any other red block to activate the block and it should turn green, but the button remains red. However, the block is actually activated and if you refresh the page, it does turn green showing the block is activated again.

This is a minor thing and knowing what I know now about refreshing the page makes it easy to get around, but I'm sure people will wonder what's going on if it's not corrected.

Thank you for Tiny Portal!

Do you mean the blocks or articles and pages?

I’d not think you’d have many blocks, TinyPortal also handles them very differently to SimplePortal so an import isn’t easy.

I'm willing to take a look at this for ausfisho.  It sounds like just blocks atm, but I would also like to know the extent of the content requiring migration. Sounds like it's all got to be extracted from a database backup as the site has already switched portals.

some blocks are html,others, php, had a image slider from a gallery mod on front page some are pages i think a few articles

Thank you @rjen! I'm up and running with all RSS feeds working as expected! Thanks to all who contributed to this fix!
