Avatar in front page board news?

I dont know if tis was asked in the past or not but is there a way to get the posters avatar to show when news from a forum board is shown on the front page, somewhat like MkPortal?

I haven't seen anyone do that modification yet. Maybe someone would like to, I don't have the time ATM.

This would be a great feature.  I'm actually working on trying to edit the code to implement this myself.  I noticed that the BZ13 theme default that this site (tinyportal.co.uk) has includes the avatars in the news items on the front page.  Looks very nice, and it is something I'm sure a lot of users would be interested in.
