Please excuse my ignorance with what im about to ask - i run a SMF forum and whilst browsing around on the internet ive come across Tiny Portal and looking on this site i see a lot of mentions of SMF & TP but what exactly is the relation between SMF & TP, what does TP do ?? What could TP do for me as a forum administrator??
Thank you for anyone that removes my ignorance ;)
TinyPortal Doc's Board (http://docs.tinyportal.co.uk/index.php)
Should hold all the answers you need, also the rest of the forum will show you what TP looks like :)
TP is simply a portal made for SMF, it uses SMF database and members data and even share the same administration.
Best way to get to know and see is to install TP to a SMF testsite and check it out :)
thanx for your reply ill have a read of the Docs and do a test install as you suggest
stikkki, you will love having TP it offers many neat useful things for the web site. Definitely check it out.
hi fellas.... saw this thread and thought it would be an appropriate place to post.
We have TP installed on our SMF Forum, and everything is great with it. We have it set up just how we like and everyone is suitably impressed. The only problem we have is locating the image file that creates the default header on ALL our forum pages (i'm not a website/forum builder, but as a novice i would assume that this means its part of the .index page? ). Its currently the "BlackRain" logo, and we want to change it to our own clans logo, but are struggling to locate where the image file is saved. Ideally it would be best if someone knew the default directory for that image, but if not, then the name of that image file. i have attached a screenshot of the image i mean below this post, just in case theres any doubt. Thanks in Advance,
Phil & the <MAD> clan team

Go to your ftp directory. Under "themes", find yours. In it you will find an images folder where there is usually an image called " logo.jpg" or "logo.gif". This is commonly used for the header logo image, but may be different on your theme. Good place to start though.
Thanks for the quick reply ...
i've had a look through the "theme" file which i believe is our current one (listed in this order we have babylon, BlackRainv, Black_Pheonix3, classic and Theme1.... i believe Theme1 is the one we're using), but didn't manage to find anything. i'm going to speak to the other admins and find out which theme we are using for certain, and then i'll narrow our search. i'll keep you posted as to our success,
thanks again Bluto
BlackRainV2 has No header image ....as shown in ss
i'm not quite sure what you mean Crip.....
if its not a header what is it? also, do you know the directory of the image and/or the image filename ....
i don't like asking, but i really have searched hard for it, and am starting to think i'm looking for the loch ness monster :o
i found an image named "brlogo", but when i ftp'ed it onto my pc its a different logo than the 1 i'm looking for :-\
Guys,
I've found it O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0
Thanks for your quick replies, and guidance. In case you were wondering the file name is "myslogan.jpg" in the "blackrainv2" theme.
Good to hear.
Hi Guys,
got another quick question ....
i want to centralise our new logo image, and again, i think i know how to do it but my problem is locating the file that i need to edit. The logo appears on every page, and not just the home/index page, so i'm assuming(perhaps wrongly) that its not the .index page i need to edit. Any input appreciated :)
Thanks in Advance,
Phil & the <MAD> clan team
If the item appears in every page, then it would be in the index.template.php file.
Thanks IchBin.
i located that file in the "blackrainv3" theme folder(the same folder that the slogan image is located).... and this is the part that i think is relevant to what i want to change. i'm only a very early stage novice with HTML/PHP coding, so i'm not sure if ths is correct to show the image centralised .... to be absoloutely honest i'm not 100% sure that this the the correct coding i'm looking at. what do you guys think? am i looking at the right coding, and if so is the coding correct?
everything looks ok to me here, but the image still isn't centralsed
<center><a href="index.php" title="', $context['forum_name'], '"><img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/myslogan.jpg" style="margin: 2px;" alt="', $context['forum_name'], '" /></a></center>
Yep, that looks like the code to me.
guys, i have a confession to make......
i'm being a complete d****ss. i just noticed that somehow i've pressed somekind of keyboard shortcut by mistake and i now have to use a slider across the bottom of the page to view the full screen width :idiot2: :uglystupid2:
thats why pencils have erasers i guess, lol.....sorry for wasting your time. Just on the off chance , don't suppose anybody knows how to change it back :-\
A slider? What the heck is a slider?
Press the same button perhaps :2funny:
Im sorry, could not resist , im not sure how you can restore it :)
i guess i should've expected that 1, lol
a slider is my name for that little bar you have to move so you can see the unseen part of the page your looking at.... you either have 1 accross the bottom of the page, or down the right side.... thinking about it i suppose you might know it as the scroll bar, unless i just made that up too, lol
lol, scrollbar was much better. :) Slider sounds like some sort of customization or something.
A slider is clam eaten raw in this neck of the woods.
hmm i thought that was oysters Bluto?? ::)
Interchangeable.
Jersey, = clams
Md and southward = Oysters
