Moving a frontpage block to the left?

I am seriously confused about how to go about moving a frontpage block to the left without showing up on pages other than the frontpage... does anyone know how? I think SMFarcade managed to pull it off, and this is seriously confusing me, so.. yeah.

What they are doing is hiding the right side panel in the forum...
