isent it a bit hard to run a forum or portal with out those features ?
Im using my FTP connection almost every day on my forum setup.
I think that some sort of Admin software (phpmyadmin, cpanel ftp) needs to be included to obtain a good forum or portal

I don't know  why you'll be needing them. If you have problems with templates, you can edit theme thru the Admin Backend.
Any other problems ? We fix them for ya.

For me it is a 100% must from my host, free or charged one doesent matter.
i know you can do alot from the admin panel in the forum. But that doesent give the same control as from FTP.
Also upgrading and change in the codes feel better through ftp. Also adding in files images, music or anything like that is easier from FTP.

And it is not always you can get contact with the host, so in those times, it is beneficial to have FTP and DB admin close in hand
