TinyPortal has now reached version 0.8.6 and is ready to be tried out by all interested. There have been many changes since v0.7.5, and its highly recommended that you backup your existing TP tables. Also if you modified any TP files , you will probably want to save those first.
That said, TP is now made even easier to install/upgrade and will work on all versions of SMF from 1.0.5 to 1.1RC2. Also earlier versions of TinyPortal will be updated - except for v0.6 and lower. TP has changed a lot since then, so it will only update from 0.6.5 and higher.
Install:
- simply use the package manager and upload the TP package through there. A short message on top will show what is being done. When that is finished, the mod is installed.
Upgrade:
- use the same package in package manager. Again any actions done by TP is displayed.
Problems with install/upgrade?
- if you get any "failure" on a fresh install, check that the files TP is trying to modify haven't been changed by other mods. In that case, try to upload the original SMF files. Also - even by doing this, the TP data tables will still be intact. TP will find these again upon install, as well as on the upgrade.
- can't use the package manager? For you there exists a "files-only" zip, which you can upload to your SMF installation. Next you need to install the database tables for TP - that is done by uploading the "database-only" file and running it. Last you need to modify the files in SMF that TP modifies usually. There is an file attached that lines out what needs to be done in that case.
- for those upgrading from previous manual install, you need to run the database-only file first, then upload the TP files, and finally check what modifications are new - some are also redundant.
New features for 0.8.6:
- New module called "Download manager". In this module you can let your visitors download files, upload and allow certain membergroups to manage it. There are settings to allow only certain filetypes, filesize and whether a approval routine will be in effect.
- Enhanced several block-types. Userblock has had a facelift, the theme-block will show thumbnails taken from the themes, and statsblock will show online users together with normal statistics.
- All blocks can be "folded up" by members and will remember it across sessions and machines. its not cookie-based. Also, the admin can decide if individual blocks can "fold up" or not.
- Articles have more display options. You can turn off the bars, author, "the user top" , navigation tree etc.
- TPadmin section has been moved into regular SMF admin sections, and permissions for each of the main sections have been added. nay group can be assigned the ability to manage a part of TP.
- lots of smaller bugfixes and enhancements.

Just upload them like the normal SMF language files - in Themes/default/languages. :)
I cant find this in index.template.php, what should i do?

Looks like the Board news needs to be updated. :)
What Theme?
Thanks for the update, Bloc!
I'm a little confused about the manual install, however. I uploaded the files and ran the manual_tp_install.php file, and it says everything was okay, yet I don't see how any way to enable blocks, etc.
I'm a newbie... so be gentle. :buck2:
EDIT: I think I figured it out.
Default theme...all worked when installed with Package Manager :)

NOW Run TP install through package manager..
Great Stuff Bloc and team :D
One question though. Will all the themes have to be adjusted again to work with TinyPortal v0.8.6? I have SMF 1.1 RC2 installed along with the new TinyPortal v0.8.6, plus the Amber theme for RC2, but it doesn't seem to work.
Thanks

Try to uninstall TP. Abort if you get an error.
If you don't get an error, continue. Then delete the TP package. Then try to install this newest version of TP.

If you have the normal Amber , all you need to do is upload and overwrite with the TP version of Amber - for SMF1.1RC2 of course. It basically have a adjusted index.template, some TP images and one extra template for TP.

I installed SMF1.1 RC2 4 weeks past and have been waiting for the updated TP. Today in less than 30 minutes I installed TP and 7 templates. It all worked straight off, no problems at all.
And what is even sweeter is how obvious and simple all the admin stuff is.

I've had this before and it was a long job to find. I found that some images in the default/images directories also need to be 777. Go through them and make sure all buttons, etc, are set to 777.
Also make sure that the forum directory is at 777, and the root folder for the site if you can.

Thry changing to the default SMF theme. If it woirks there, you are using the wrong theme before the change. Your themes need to be compatible with the SMF version, and TP enabled. Ordinary SMF themes dont work.

Please look at the examples Bloc has made at this site. Please refer to teh "Articles" in this sites content section.
Then your TP is not installed. Check in your package manager to see if it truely is. You may want to uninstall/reinstall if it is. Please only post in this thread if you have problems with install. If you have questions about TP features you may want to search or ask another questions in your own thread.

the homepage shows this:

This block should be visible for admins only - no membergroups are set to be allowed to view it. As default new blocks will have all membergroups and guests checked.

okay. thanks! :)
Prasad007
That is an example block. Only admin's and moderator's are allowed to see it based on the permissions set for it.
Please go to your TP block management and disable, or even delete the block. You could edit the block to what you want it to say. Only you and your moderators can see it.
It's whatever you want.

Great news to have the new TP out! I can't wait to try it out. :)
These are good questions though Pras, it will help us in writing a FAQ and useage guide.
Thank you all for your inevitable unending help over my crappy pointless question! :) :)
They are not pointless Pras, keep asking. Just in another thread ok?

IchBinâââ,¬Å¾Ã,¢: Here's what I get when I run that test...
PHP Test (http://www.simonproject.com/phptest.php)
It doesn't look like Safe Mode is on, but I'm really kinda new to all this, so I might be missing something.
Your safe mode is off. Let me go back and read some of your posts. Give me a minute.
You cannot put in your ftp info for SMF to fix this? When you have the error on install, you should be able to put your ftp info in and let smf do the changes so the package will install.
I just installed TP86 on RC2 with Amber, but it seems my board was completely annihilated by it. ^_^
When I try to access the board (http), any page, I get a parse error for Load.php:
QuoteParse error: parse error, unexpected $, expecting ')' in /home/eyvindsc/public_html/forum/Sources/Load.php on line 2089
That line happens to be the very last line of Load.php, the rest is completely cut off. As you can see from this excerpt (the last lines of Load.php):
Quotefunction get_memcached_server($level = 3)
{
global $modSettings, $memcached, $db_persist;
$servers = explode(',', $modSettings['cache_memcached']);
$server = explode(':', trim($servers[array_rand($servers)]));
// Don't try more times than we have servers!
$level = min(count($servers), $level);
// Don't wait too long: yes, we want the server, but we might be able to run the query faster!
if (empty($db_persist))
$memcached = @fsockopen($server[0], empty($server[1]) ? 11211 : $server[1], $err, $err, 0.15);
else
$memcached = @pfsockopen($server[0], empty($server[1]
How did this happen, and what's supposed to be below this?
EDIT: I did make a backup before I installed TP, but the backup did not seem to work for some reason. D:

The first time I tried installing, it allowed me to put my FTP info in. I tried installing and got the permissions error. Now all it gives me is the permissions error.
Did you install anything else other than TP?
eyvind,
If you cannot access your site, I would suggest putting back in the original SMF files for your forum, EXCEPT the settings.php file which holds all your database info.
bigsimon, if you'd like I can take a look at your forum. Just PM me the info if you want. Seems we are exhausted with ideas atm.

Not at the same time as TP, I did install the Ultimate Shoutbox a while back, but that wouldn't mess Load.php up now.

I'll try that.
And then try installing TP86 and the TP86 Amber theme? in that order?
To update... I cleared my browser's cache, and tried again. It once again allowed me to enter my FTP data. After pressing the Install Now button, it gave me the following error:

Your folder and files need to be 777. Some disagree, but SMF is designed to give you protection. Just ask Unknown, he'll lay the smackdown on you.
However, some hosts won't allow 777, only 775 for secruity reasons. I had a similair issue and pleaded with my host to allow it. chmod it to 777. Refresh and try again, see if it automactically reverted back to 775.
This may, or may not be your issue. Only trying to help. If you have already installed SMF before, it shouldn't be an issue.

Good thinking.
Now try uninstalling previous versions of TP. Then delete. Then install version v.86 of TP.
Fantastic!
This is a very nice addition to any web site.
Thanks for all the hard work.

That shouldn't be a problem bigsimon.
backing up as I type this - FTPing all the files onto my HD, then will make a SQL database backup. but afraid it's 230am over here so must continue this tomorrow, at work no less. :)
Yes bigsimon,
But "uninstall" before you delete. If you get an error or "failure" during uninstall, abort.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before. You all can reply faster than I can read! (guess everyone is excited).
What is the order of installation from:
SMF 1.0.5
TP v.0.75
My thought would be upgrade TP first and then SMF.

I don't understand why ... I think is showing only for one group ... but I don't find where to modify
Any suggestions ?
Thanks ! ;)
I think you should check to see if any of those groups have admin permissions.
YES ! ... I created an new user and I passed to that category ( member group called " Colaborador " ) and that new user now can see Admin button.
Why ?
That group has not admin permissions and no moderates and nothing :idiot2: ... Is just another group called of different way !

It certainly would be nice to download this since the wait has been so long. But when I click on the download button, it give me an error message "not allowed to access this section" and I notice I have been kicked back to login showing as a guest!

You may want to clear your cache/cookies and then login back to this site and see if that helps.
Just to let you know that I've finally got up and running. I deleted all themes and versions of tiny portal, set all files to 777 uploaded new themes and installed TP8 via the package manager. Why it didn't work the first time is a mystery.
One thing is how do you add a picture while uploading a file in the new uploads/downloads section? Do you need to place an image manually via FTP and link to it? as I can see no Browse Button. Apologies if this is the wrong thread to ask such a question.

Hi my install of TP 0.8.6 on SMF 1.06 went fine... but i don't see any of the new buttons including the new download button. (and yes i did turn it on correctly in the themes section)
All the images needed are in the correct folder heliosmulti_TP/images.

Thank you very much, I got TP to work perfectly with Amber now.
Just a little annoyed at how it's not easy to move the default blocks around (like Themes and UserInfo and Search and Content) and that you can't disable them completely (especially Themes).
EDIT: I'm probably being stupid and not seeing the options to do so, I'll look more carefully now.
EDIT2: I'm sorry, I found it, I was being extrmely dimwitted, very very nice job Bloc. I used to use TP back before SMF1.0.5, i forgot how great it is ^_^
Of course it is very nice, I shouldn't complain.
on4ya, would you open up the TPortal.english.php file in the themes/default/language/ folder and see if this line is located in that file somewhere?
$txt['tp-tools']='Tools';
It is very easy eyvind... click edit blocks in your userbox and you can turn them off, move them from right to left, or frontpage etc.

I have the latest version of TP dfownloaded to my hard drive. I assume that I ftp it into the packages folder of SMF and then use SMF's package installer to load TP... Is that right?
Thanks
Peter
if you get some errors on the install - stop and remove some of the mods that are installed and try again --
Kudos to the ENTIRE crew.. Thanks for providing a quality product.
Question, is there a way removing or stopping the left/right/top menus from collapsing (Shrinking or expanding) using the little white arrows on the left side of the main menus?

very nice portal.
Installed it with no problem.
Thanx :)
Thunderbolt, you can remove those links to the collapse feature in the index.template.php file.
Look for something like this:
// TinyPortal
if($context['TPortal']['leftbar'])
echo '<td style="padding-left: 1ex;"><a href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="shrinkHeaderLeftbar(!current_leftbar); return false;"><img id="upshrinkLeftbar" src="', $settings['images_url'], '/', empty($options['collapse_leftbar']) ? 'upshrink.gif' : 'upshrink2.gif', '" alt="*" title="', $txt['upshrink_description'], '" style="margin: 2px 0;" border="0" /></a><img id="upshrinkTempLeftbar" src="', $settings['images_url'], '/blank.gif" alt="" style="margin-right: 0ex;" /></td>';

I look in TPortal.dutch.php and the last line is 165 there. Is something missing in that file ?
There are missing a few line in TPortal.dutch.php , line 165 is the last one.
When a turn my board in "English" I get no errors. So I think there is something in TPortal.dutch.php
Can I put in the missing lines in TPortal.dutch.php ?

Firstly I'm a real novice at this forum/portal creation stuff, so I apologies for any simple @ dumb questions.
I'm trying to get my forums site configured so the left TP column is turned off and the center section which include my main forum views and the News section start on the left and take up 2/3 the page width. On my right column I have the search , shout boxes etc.
Like this > http://hushedcasket.com/
Also how do I get the Login at the top like this? I'm using the TP_Amber theme.
How do I achieve this please?
Thank you for producing such a superb project. Tinyportal is fantastic.
Well... after trying to work with my provider, I still haven't been able to get TinyPortal up and running with SMF 1.1rc2.
*sigh*
Thanks for the help, guys, but this might be a bust.
SMF 1.1RC2 and TP 0.86 installed fine first time on my system
(windows XP pro, Apache2Triad 1.4.3) So did all thermes i d/loaded from the TP 0.8 + SMF 1.1RC2 Downloads area
Everything appears to be working fine but when i look in the error log file .. its comming up with errors like
8: Undefined index: boardnews
File: C:\apache2triad\htdocs\smf\Themes\default\TPortal.template.php (eval?)
Line: 61
there are others but they all reporting undefined index [or variable] .. and (eval?) at the end
Is this normal
(note I havn't set anytrhing up yet.. just installed smf1.1rc2 and tp0.86 and the styles from the d/load area here
I absolutly love what i'm seeing.. Great work Keep it up ;)
This is great! I have been waiting for it. Nice one... *thumbs up*
great work Bloc and everyone else that helped in contributing on TP!
I do have a question
My SMF was running in:
http://basic.net/forums
but the moment I used the SMF package installer for TP, TP starts now at:
http://basic.net/forums
and the forums page now starts at
http://basic.net/forums/index.php?action=forum
So my question is, is it possible to move TP to http://basic.net ? and leave SMF at http://basic.net/forums?
I hope my question was properly described. If it was not, do let me know. To moderators, if this is not the proper thread, do let me know and I will post the question in its own thread. Thanks again for everything!
That is not possible. TP is a mod for the SMF forum. It resides in the same place that the SMF forum does. And for future reference, it would be appreciated if you could post your own questions in another forum thread.

Just to add, I noticed an odd phenomenon....
I can view both TP columns in FireFox.
But the moment I use IE 6 (6.0.2900.2180.....)
I can only see both TP columns when I am logged out. The moment I login, I only see the middle column. No side columns. And no, I don't get the ' - ' boxes at the top menu either. This was reported by one of my members and initially I didn't believe her, till I tried it out myself. Really odd.
Are you logged in as a different user? Can you provide a link to your site? basic.net did not work.

Hi
Well, it's my birthday today and a big thanks to Bloc for delivering a great birthday present :)
My Forum is running SMF 1.1 RC2 with the Amber theme - no mods installed. I know my server is running php in Safe mode.
This is what I get when I try to install TinyPortal Version 0.8.6 (I haven't had any version of TP installed before this).
Quote1. Extract Tree ./Themes
2. Extract Tree ./Sources
3. Extract Tree ./wysiwyg
4. Extract Tree ./tp-downloads
5. Execute Code tp_install.php
6. Execute Modification tinyportal080-11rc2.mod Modification parse error
I re-read all 21 pages of this thread but didn't find anyone posting with the same error message.
Does this error mean that I have to follow the instructions outlined by Bloc in his
can't use the package manager?? Or do I have some other problem?
Thanks in advance for any help :)

Happy Birthday Gidget. :)
TP_ did not install via package manager? .. so you tried manual install and still no TP_install.. is this correct?
Hi crip
First, thanks for the answer :)
No, TP didn't install under Package Manager - I tried both unzipping and uploading everything to the server first, as well as uploading the zip file from my hard disk. I got the same error message that I posted earlier, each time.
I haven't yet tried to do a manual install - I thought I'd wait and see whether the guru's thought this is what I needed to do, first ;)

im using the RC2 default and try install via Package Manager but dont work, i see aply mod and i did after got always the page cannot be displayed, any ideas?
I had that same thing at my old host, it turned out to be the package installer didnt work there. The install of TP had to be the manuall way. So try the manuall install files and see if that help you out.

I don't understand any of this... i have full access.
By setting permissions you mean right clicking on a item, then properties and then setting them at 777 right???
I use WS_FTP Pro 2006.
I really hope there will be a solution for this matter :-\
Yes that is exactly what I mean. If you can do that, then make all the images for TP 777 if you will. It denies me access everytime I try to do it.

Added TP 086 and seems to install ok, (No errors) but not seeing any changes in admin area and if I try ans install and load theme, shows ok again(no errors) but not able to do anything. Shows top half of header and nothing else. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Okay... I've tried once again, this time dropping all the tables in phpMyAdmin and deleting all the files. I'm still getting this same error after I click Apply Mod and it asks for my FTP info:

I am trying tp out and for some reason anything i add to the front page i can not see.. i have added a shoutbox, html and a admin box and nothing appears on the front page... any reason why?
I have tried a fresh install of smf 1.1 rc2 and I can't get tp to work with either package or manual install. I haven't seen anything pertaining to TP on the admin screen. I've tried installing a few different themes thru theme install and manually with chmod 777 and not getting the whole theme to install. Anyone have any ideas? This is my first install of TP. Thanks!
SleePy, are you seeing any sidebars? Are you using a theme that is compatible with TP? Have you set the proper permissions on your block?
ramapoughnative, what are your errors when installing?
im using the default theme but one of those modified colors to change the colors to black..
I can see the side bars and stuff. it all shows just nothing on my frontpage.
heres 2 pics
the first shows me logged in and what i see on the index
the second shows the admin page and shows i got stuff in the frontpage
[attachment deleted by admin]
SleePy, can u try logging out and see if u can observe the missing side bars?
I had something similar but can't see both side bars when I login to a specific membership type. Thus far I have not find a solution.

Went awsome, I first updated from SMF 1.05 to 1.1 RC2 (which removed the old portal) then I removed the old Helios theme, then updated the TinyPortal from v.0.7.5 to v0.8.6 then applied the new helios theme, all went with no problems, love the new features....
Thanks a million! ;D
Just one question will there be an option for the 'Metal Bars' to be removed in the TP_helios_multi11_rc2 theme? :(
well with some experimenting with settings i found out if you go to Settings -> Frontpage
change "What to show on frontpage:" to "Frontpage Blocks" it will show the blocks... why can't i do both the blocks and articles?
--Edit--
Never mind i think i got it all the way i want it now. but one thing. in the url link like
"the Bloc Zone > Forum > Tiny Portal > TinyPortal Beta Support >"
is there a way to just make it say
"the Bloc Zone > Tiny Portal > TinyPortal Beta Support >"
and have "the Bloc Zone" go to the link "Forum" goes to?
I wanted to offer my thanks, Bloc, for all your countless hours of hard work. I will hammer away on the portal, forums, and updated themes and report any issues that I see. But so far looks like an impressive launch! Installed and seems to be working flawlessly (on initial inspection at least...)

Hi ramapoughnative
I had to do a manual install on TP as well. Are you using a TP theme? See Bloc's first post in this thread
http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?topic=2481.msg20586#msg20586
for links to download the available themes.

yes. I'm doing the Amber theme. Do you have tp in a separate subdirectory?
Because my server has php safe mode enabled, I have to upload any theme to the server and then install from the directory I created and put it in.
If I don't do that, the theme says it has installed, but it hasn't actually done so.
Cheers
Gidget
Request your server to turn OFF php safe mode =|= php power mode. :)

There are two versions for Amber remapaoughnative. Make sure you are using this one. In fact, I would say please uninstall your amber theme and install this one to make sure.

This is true.
Thank you all. I will try your suggestions..
Ok.. I have removed the old amber and installed TP_Amber as suggested. I unzipped and added in new folder in /SMF/Theme directory. I only get the Amber header displayed if I change to that theme. I guess where my problem lies is i'm unclear where to install TP. I have smf in it's own directory. Does TP go into it's own directory as well or is it integrated into /SMF?
TP is a modification to the SMF forum. It installs on top of (or inside if you prefer).
Maybe that is where my problem is.. I will try that. thank you!
For those that install manually: you don't have to apply all changes to default theme - if you are using another TP - enabled theme(or wish to).
Just do the changes to index.php, Load.php, Subs.php and Security.php, so that TP can work.

Would you do me a favor and run the repair_settings.php file from the SMF forums?
http://www.simplemachines.org/download/index.php/repair_settings.php
Didi'nt check that one ;) but it worked! some of the URL's were wrong
Thanks for helping
First a big thank you for putting out such a great
portal!!!!
Running SMF RC2 with default theme, the install went smoth.
But looking at the error log it tells me:
8: Undefined index: TPortal
File: /var/www/my.server..com/html/smf/Themes/default/Errors.template.php (eval?)
Line: 213
Same eror message as above comes up but with different lines:
Line: 333
Line: 780
Line: 492
Line: 502
Line: 513
Line: 502
Line: 611
any suggestions?
Please help, I am running a rather large forum with about 1500
Users online constantly.
Thanks
This is an error i am trying to hunt down. All I know right now, is that it still is related to error screens.
Thanks Bloc for the quick reply!!
Again great work on Tinyportal!!!!
So I will sit put till you found the failure ;)
take care
I guess i'm the only one having a problem. I have started over again. I installed SMF in /smf directory, uploaded TP files to /smf directory. I ran 1139149106manual_tp_install.php, no errors. Board is using default theme. Do I delete default theme and add tp_ theme or add this to what's already there? Sorry to be so dumb but I don't know what else to do at this point. Thanks for helping.

Here's what you need to do if you can't use the package manager.
1. run the manual_install file. (which you did) <--- This installs the database tables for TP only.
3. Copy the "Files Only" package to your website. (everything is already put in folders for you, so you know where they go.)
2. you need to look at the tp-mod_instructions.txt.... Everything in that file that is related to the changes to index.php, Load.php, Subs.php and Security.php you'll have to add manually by copy and pasting the code.
3. Once you have done that, install a
TP theme from Bloc's download section. Make it default for your forum and you should see that TP is now a part of your SMF forum.
tp-mod_instructions.txt- that's what i'm missing. It's not in Tinyportal0_86_filesonly.zip, you have to download the package also to get it. Thank you for your help.
me again. According to tp_mod-instruction.txt, in file index.template.php,
looking for..

', $txt[656], ': ', $context['common_stats']['latest_member']['link'], '
</div>
</div>';
</search for>
This is not in this file.. Something else I'm missing? thanks
Just installed on my fresh 1.1 RC2 site - pacakge manager took care of it like a champ! I am sooooo happy to have this, I may just grin myself to death!! :D
Thanks so much, Bloc and everyone else who helps out on this project!!
WARNING: If you use Bloc's 'Last shout' center block code and upgrade to TP .8x, your board will totally bomb! You MUST disable this block and make an edit to it after you upgrade or your pages will not load at all.
I spent freaking HOURS trying to find out why every time I installed TP 8 my board would come up with the dred server or DNS error and couldn't load a page. Won't bore you with the step it took to troubleshoot it, but needless to say a total novice wouldn't have been able to address it.
If you use this code, once you finish your update go to the code for that block and change this:
$tp_prefix = 'tportal_';
to this:
$tp_prefix = 'smf_tp_';
I wonder how many other block snippets have references to the old TP prefix block. I'd imagin they all need updating or users will get confused fast.
hello, i install the tp but only the regular members have acess the other not, i check the permissions but i dont see anything for give them permission.
the regular members can go forum and them click home and can see the tp complete, the other members only see the center msg and nothing else, how can be?
Thanks for letting me know, WizardHawk. I will go through them.
sodeborla, "ungrouped members" are normal members with no special membergroup setting. If your members DO have a membergroup, they are no longer "ungrouped". Check the groups they belong to as well.
ya i found out i need go to blocks and add the groups can view the tp, thx great job

Hi Bloc,
After a view days I have all up and running. Installing was no problem, but the new stuff I saw took a long time to figure out. Still one thing isn't working here, the newsfeed, but I will find out why :D
Thanks for the good job together with the team. I enjoy the portal together with RC2.
For a look, I'm sorry it is in Dutch, you're welcome at:

Keep up the goodies,

WOW!! it installed smooth as pie... no problems at all and it sticked with the settings and the skin intact, coulnd't have been easier... forum bliss thanks bloc :-D
Hi,
I have this problem:
After I ran tp_install.php
I got this error
Install / Upgrade TinyPortal v0.8.6beta
Warning: mysql_query(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) in /home/content/a/b/c/myname/html/smf/tp_install.php on line 16
It goes from line 16 to line 439
After that I got this message:
TinyPortalÂÃ,´s table structure is now installed/updated.
Please restart your forum to see the changes.
And when I press on start I return back to the forum but nothing happens.
Any ideas, help on what is going wrong?
Thank you,
It sounds like your settings.php file are out of order and the forum dont know the paths
Go in your forum rootfolder and take a look at the settings.php file and see to that it shows the right way in the paths.
Your page url, forum url, SQL url.
No, its the fact that you run "install.php" and not "manual_tp_install.php". That file is supposed to be executed by the package manager, not stand-alone.It assume a connection to mysql is already present, thats why you get the error.
If you can't use the package manager, you need to use the "manual_tp_install.php" but beware that ONLY installs the mysql tables. You still need to upload the actual TP files, and modify 4-5 SMF files.
i actually got an issue with the new Helios Multi Theme (TP) for RC2. Firstly i assume it runs in 1.0.6.
The problem is i can't customize it. anwyhere from adding a logo, to dabbing around with the index template or the style CSS sheet... i get an error >
The file you are trying to edit... can't even be found!
If i try switching the default color of helios, to another one from brown it simply 'reboots' back to the default skin. i tried uploading the files and installing from the server dir, which is the way i have always done it. So this time around, i also tried installing it from the zip file witht the browse option and i get the same errors on both instances.
i realize the error is exclusively a skin problem, but they it started turning after i upgraded, so i was wondering if anybody else had some experience fishing out these issues...
Are you sure that you have the correct Theme for your version of SMF ?
If you are running SMF 1.0.6 you need to have the themes from this downloadsection.
http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=cat7
That's what happened to me. I had an old Cerberus, I had to switch to Babylon to get the TP to show, then get the TP-Ready Cerberus
ohh... no i was running the one for RC2... i think, i will give those a try, thanks :)
-
yup that was it... O0
on to normalcy again :2funny:
hey wait... so the theme for 1.0.6 does not have the new look for RC2 implemented? i just realized it looks exactly like the old one ???
I dont know how the SMF 1.0.6 look like, im using the rc2 my.selfe, but it could be right that rc2 stand with new looks by itselfe.
Glad it worked out anyway :)
yes, thank you :)
Just installed TP and everything's running smooth. 8)
Just one minor problem: I'm using SMF 1.0.5. and the SMF 1.0.5/6 themes seem to be missing a few images that are used in the new TP, and the RC2 themes aren't saving when users select them as a new theme... in other words the theme switches back to default after the users log out. :(
Any help? ???
P.S.- Love it, though. Great job, Bloc. ;D
if you scroll....1...2....8 posts up you might find the answer you seek ;)
Oh, sorry about that. :uglystupid2:
I did do a search, so I wasn't entirely lazy. :P
Still though... the new images would be nice, but not a major thing.

I have used the manual_install file. I made the changes to all files except
index.template.php
Cause I did not find
<img src="', $settings['header_logo_url'], '" alt="', $context['forum_name'], '" border="0" />';
Or
', $txt['smf88'], '

</div>';
Now my fourm home page does show nothing, except the welcome screen.
Other sections: Admin, Members, Profile, Search...
Are working...
Any help please???
I think you should install another TP theme and see if everything is OK.

I tried two different themes, but non worked. I can see the TinyPortal in admin page and its working, but in the home page nothing is showing except the welcome message.
Then you need to modify the index.template. Your boardindex is still there, only now its called from "index.php?action=forum" rather than just "index.php".
Incidentally there is a setting in TPadmin for frontpage called "go directly to forum", that will make it behave the old way again. The TP homepage will then need to be called from "index.php?action=tportal", while of course "index.php" goes to the forum.
hey Bloc, is there any way to have all the features for TP for SMF 1.0.6 working with the new look of the RC2 skin? (i'm talking about Helios multi) i'm torn between keeping full functionality a logo, etc, and keeping the new skin...
uhm..not sure what you mean..but:
You want TP for 1.0.6..meaning you want to use SMF1.0.6. What exactly is the 1.1rc2 parts of Helios_TP you need to apply to the Helios_TP 1.0.5 version?
Ok so i upgraded TP last night and it was all smooth banana's... the problem came when i downloaded the Helios Skin for the TP_helios_multi11_rc. It worked fine, it that had that new look ( http://www.sonic-energy.net/smf/index.php ), but it when came to configure it, the template couln't find the CSS style sheets, i couln't place a logo, i couln't even allow the template to load on Blue or any colour except for the defualt brown cause it went crazy when i pressed save and it booted back to the default skin.
in page 29 of this thread i was pointed to the Helios skin for SMF 1.0.6 >
http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=cat7
and that one works fine but it dosen't have the 'new' look... so i was wondering if i did something wrong, or am i missing a skin, or if there are plans to implement the 'new' look into future templates for Helios. i realize it must be tremendous work keeping all those skins updated, but i just found it strange the newer skin following RC2 (SMF 1.0.6) had the old look and feel. made me wonder if i was missing something :)
What do you mean by "new look" ? The only thing I know that is not in the 1.0.5/1.0.6 version is the boarder surrounding the center part(like it is on the sidebars).

if take a look here > http://sonic-energy.net/smf/index.php
you will see TP looks different than the older version... for one the bars look 3d... we have little icons, etc... why would the 1.0.5/1.0.6 be step backwards from the new look back to the old one ? :)
You are also using the RC2 theme on a 1.0.6 board.....You need to change the theme version.
I don't see how it looks different. I see the same in my browser.

Unfortunatly I still have the same problem
allow me to ask a question a bit more relevant than, 'looks' :)
i'm trying to make the new downloads/uploads section work. because i manage i group of music enthusiats and i would love to have the capaility of having them upload their own tracks (as i have been doing so manually and it's turning tedius).
so i have created a category, tracks with a maximum size of (13312 kb) and i have authorized a special group i created to allow them to upload tracks. the thing is it is not showing. when i create a test account with the spaced group (uploaders), the option to upload the front page does not show. None of the 'Tools' section shows... could it be because the aprooved group does not have a parent category? the user box in itself does show for those users... is there anything i might have missed? :/
Hi Folks... I installed 8.6 and the corresponding updated theme for Helios and it seems ever since, I've been getting the following errors.... It didn't happen before. Any ideas? Thanks...
http://bigjohnsbikes.net/smf/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=92
8: Undefined index: code
File: /home/content/m/y/c/mycade/html/smf/Themes/default/Post.template.php (eval?)
Line: 878
BTW, I narrowed it down not to be TP... I have just updated to the latest version of Apollo and this forum does not have TP and I am not getting the error there. Is it possible it's in the new revised Bloc themes that have been upgraded for use with SMF 1.1 RC2?
I apologize for it ending up here in the TP area.. :'(

No, you should have it working..if you checked the permission "upload" in the membergroup permission window.
There is also a setting in tpadmin/dlmanager/settinsg that will decide if they need to be approved by an admin or not - but the uplaod permission should be visible anyway.
What category they can upload to will depend on what permissions you have set on each download category, but again it should not matter if the uplaod permission is set.
thanks bloc, as it turns out i needed to modify the group settings :)

I'm having trouble with #1.
When I try to run
manual_tp_install.php or 1139149106manual_tp_install.php manually, I get this error message, it shows up about 100 times (estimated):
Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in W:\www\kaitech.hk\forums\manual_tp_install.php on line 134Now starting from line 132, the code is:

mysql_query("INSERT INTO {$new_prefix}settings (name,value) VALUES ( '$what', '$val')");
}
elseif(mysql_num_rows($sjekk)>0 && $what=='version'){
mysql_query("UPDATE {$new_prefix}settings SET value='$val' WHERE name='$what'");
echo '<ul><li>Updated version to '.$val.'</li></ul>';
mysql_free_result($sjekk);
}
Any ideas what to try at this point? I'm running this on a test server locally. Could it be related to my PHP settings? I'm running php 4.4.0 with Apache 2.0.
On a fresh install of RC2 + TP86 the installation via package manager went smoothly. I noticed that my site happened to have the smf tables prefixed with something else, and guess this was causing some issues..
Hi,
I have a little weird problem....
I did a fresh installation of smf 1.1.RC2, installed TP 0.86 and the update, and imported (very carefully) a database from smf 1.1.RC1, no TP. Everything is working great, except for one thing: ONLY new members can see the TP, old ones cannot!
Some help here?? :)
Sounds very strange. How exactly can't they see it? no blocks? Download manager not working?
Thanks for the reply Bloc!
I forgot to mention I use the Epsilon and Amber themes.
I attach printscreens.
It seems as if TP is not installed, but the bars' space is left empty.
I tried it also on another server (importing just one old user from the database, nothing else), same thing!
Thought: What if I go the "slow" way: RC1, no TP > upgrade RC2 > TP 0.86 > TP Theme ?
[attachment deleted by admin]
Might be the same problem I had and dunno if this would help.
(http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?topic=2527.0)
Basically each membership group needs be given permission to view those blocks. By default only the Guest membership can see the blocks, but old membership groups can't.
The controls are in the Manage Blocks>Edit Blocks section.
Maybe a warning in the downloads or the TP v0.8.6 description might come in handy for some of us who assume that old membership groups might also 'see' the blocks.
Thats probably the cause - that permissions on the blocks are not set for all members.
Epsilon TP is bit limited..if the left bar is empty it will still render the space, only rightbar will be gone if that rightbar is empty... Its the way I made the theme..and I didn't want to convert it too much since its used here too.
Thank you Basis, Bloc - unfortunately this didn't seem to be the solution.
All blocks are to be seen by all 4 options (guests, ungrouped members, moderator, global moderator).
Moreover, I notice now from the printscreens that the old member sees just half the menu options: He cannot see search, profile and calendar.
I tried everything that I can do, I have reinstalled smf1.1rc2 on a different location, and installed tinyportal 0.86 and I still have the same problem.
I can't see the forums. I only see this menu
Home Help Search Profile My Messages Members Logout
And a welcome to smf message, and nothing else.
In the admin panel there is a tinyportal block, it seems working but I don't know why it does not show the fourms in the home page.
Could you please help me this please???
Can we have a link u2? maybe more info on your setup? SMF/Theme/TP versions? A test account setup on your forum would be nice too.
One thing to check is the permissions on your files (if you're host server is linux).
Thanks IchBin!
New test member is: username:test, pass: 123456test
Admin is: marboo, pass: 123456marboo
URL: http://www.oreivatein.com/smf
About the old member, I sent you a pb.
Thanks again!
Marboo, I have to be honest I've never quite grasped the concept of SMF member group and non-member group permissions. I added a Test Group and then added the Maria account to that group. Then set permissions on the blocks for Maria to view them, and now it works. I don't know why it wouldn't work for someone who is not a member of a group. AFAIK it should work for non-grouped members. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this.
Thanks twice, IchBin!!
I just noticed that you were actually asking u2 about the forum details....
Sorry and thanks again! :)
Not a problem, I do what I can. :)

Question about the Download Manager:
Can files be uploaded any other way than through the interface? For example, I would like to upload some files that are larger than I want to allow for the site. Can I upload them via FTP? If so, where is the folder?
Thanks.
Yes, you can..its a bit cumbersome for the moment, but i am planning to add a better interface for files through ftp.
Basically just upload through dl manager a file with the same name, but smaller size, and then replace it through ftp with the bigger version. The folder where all uploads are, is called "tp-downloads" and are inside the forum folder.
Unfortunately that wont work for all [me] of us :o. Im using an Linux/Apache server and the files uploaded through the DL Manager have a different ownership than those ftp'd by me >:D. That means that I can't delete/overwrite using ftp. So can't overwrite the files >:(. I am in contact with my host StreamlineNet but they appear to be a large reseller and either cant, won't or don't know how to set the permissions for me to alter these files :idiot2:. As you can immagine this dosn't just effect mey DL section... :'( :knuppel2:
[we are not talking chmod here but probably chown not accessable by ftp]
What appears to be needed is a way of typing in the large file details that have been ftp'd or picking up said files much like SimpleDownload.
Still, "All said and Done" TP is the best
I know exactly what you mean Fith. My linux server that I run does the same exact thing. What it does is set the owner as the apache owner, instead of the user account. If your host does not give you a way to fix this, or fix it themselves that is a load of crap. It can be as simple as running a cron job to change the owner of all the files in a directory.
Back to Report that as a temporary solution I have had better success uploading via ftp and creating new 'Rows' in the MySQL 'smf_tp_dlmanger' Table. [I use phpMyAdmin]
IchBin,
Is there anything new?? ::)

Sorry U2, but I get like 5 or 6 PM's a day sometimes and I cannot keep all of them. Fortunately, yours was still buried in the inbox. :) I'll take a look right now.
--Edit--
In order for me to investigate any further I'm going to need admin access and probably FTP access to your files. If you are ok with this, feel free to PM me the info.
Apparently, I edited my post after you posted. :uglystupid2: I need access if I'm going to look into this further. Read my quote if you would...

I have sent you PM. Thank you
An Error Has Occurred!
You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable!
when i try to install i get that message. i just upgraded to version 1.1rc2
i think i might know what this means but if not please respond ;)
gonna go try my theory out right now ;)
Your "Packages" directory in your install directory must be writable AND the file "installed.list" in the Packages directory. Check this! (Ftp-Prog or Shell-Access)
Just wondering, how you could install without this permissions...
Tucker
yep they are.
ok. it seems i semi fixed that error. i had to create temp.dir and chmod it to 777
to get that error to go away.
now if i want it will let me install shop mod.
but if i try to install PHP 4.4.0 Compatibility Update 1.0 or uninstall tiny portal it gives me an error liek this

Most likely that another mod have changed what TinyPortal changed in the first place - and then package manager can't "change back" becuase it needs the exact code.

Yes, that is what really should be present as a option - so its on top of my list for dl manager. It will be a separate screen where any file that are not "registered" in the "tp-downlaods" can be added instantly. So you could upload a bunch of files and use this option to place them into the dl manager data tables. Without having to use the upload function at all.

can you help me?
uberjon, if you need to un-install everything, the safest route is to upload the UPGRADE version of SMF, and run it. The go into package manager and erase any "installed packages". The upload/apply the packages again.
TP will be fine, becuase this will leave the databse tables alone..so when you install TP again it will just pick up the old tables and use them.
i seemed to have fixed that error by reuploading the sources.dir
ima try to reupload tp im a lil weary though :(
You dont have to be worried, Just make a backup of the files you change and if itÂÃ,´s not working, put the backupfiles back.
If you want to be sure, backup all files, but just overwrite or delete and replace on at the time and see if the replacement works for every file you change.
I just installed this its great!
I have the 0.75. vesrion of TP installed under SMF 1.1RC1.
This week I'll upgrade both.
What do you suggest doing first, the TP upgrade or the SMF?
Do the SMF first and then TP
Note that the themes from 1.1rc1 and 1.1rc2 are very diffrent, so if you have any other themes installed, remove them before the uppgrade
And a request:
I saw that you made the blocks collapsable, great!
If u make also their position user defined (from profile perhaps) you would be our hero!
@g6cat: Thanks for immediate reply
OK I have complete control over a Linux server that is failing on a fresh install of SMF 1.1RC2 when attempting to install TP With the package manager. First failure has to do with the existence of a Temp directory in the package directory. What do I need to change to fix this? all files are 777 and ftp can create directories (manually verified)
add the errors here that will help everyone to figure out what is goign on...
You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable!
which isnt true I discovered reading the previous 36 pages that a temp directory needs to be created in packages if I manually create it I get a further the package claims to install and then and I egt the follwoing
10. Execute Modification ./Sources/Subs.php Test successful
11. Execute Modification ./Sources/ManagePermissions.php Test successful
12. Execute Modification ./Sources/Security.php Test successful
looking good hit the button to install and get this
* Upshrink table exists
* Settings table exists
o Reset theme changer
o Updated version to 086
* Blocks table exists
* Variables table exists
* Articles table exists
* Dlmanager table exists
TinyPortalÂÃ,´s table structure is now installed/updated.
Please restart your forum to see the changes.
hit restart and get this

NOte I also tried cleaning out the DB to no avail
It seems the actual files were not uploaded. The data table creation went well, but file unpacking(from TP archive) did not. If you after the install upload the files through ftp - does it work then?
Needs a manual install...4 sure.
I am certain I could manual install the mod but Im trying to get the server set up so other can do installs who are not quite as good as me :)
Bloc that makes sense, so far the temp directory was not created automaticaly for some reason and then the extract is stopping both kinsd of sound liek persions issues but all files and directories are set to 777
the temp directory contains the following files
$auto_0.txt readme.txt tinyportal071-080-11.mod tinyportal080-11rc1.mod tinyportal083-085-11rc.mod
TP_mod-instructions.txt tinyportal065-080-11.mod tinyportal071-080.mod tinyportal080-11rc2.mod tinyportal083-085.mod
package-info.xml tinyportal065-080.mod tinyportal080-11.mod tinyportal080.mod tp_install.php
the above files are all owned by apache and are 666
perhaps I need to change the server so that files it creates are set with different properities?
Tried to upgrade from 0.7.5 to 0.8.6.
I got this error
Fatal error: packageinstall(): Failed opening required '/home/thmmygr/public_html/smf/Packages/temp/./tp_install.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in /home/thmmygr/public_html/smf/Sources/Packages.php on line 534
When the testing installation was done I got all successful,
but on the most bottom of the page (even below SMF RC2 description)a line appeared
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: tportal_version() in /home/thmmygr/public_html/smf/Sources/Load.php(1607) : eval()'d code on line 523
Any ideas?
I've upload the files manually, overwrite the existing ones
run the manual_tp_install
which told me everything installed ok
but no TP appears :(
EDIT:
Eventually I've made all the necessary changes by hand
and now hopefully works fine.
PS: Where can I find the TP theme for the SMF core theme?
have you applyed the tables in your database to?
QuotePS: Where can I find the TP theme for the SMF core theme?

I'm searching for the modified TP index.template.php
It was this download for the database only files.
you have two downloads for the manuall install, one for the tp files in the forum, and one for the database.
This one is for the dtabase.

oh, i've done it also, forgot to mentioned
After updating to 0.8.6 (from 0.7.5) over SMFrc2
I can't install any mod, I get
"You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable!"
although Package folder and everything inside is CHMOD 777.
Could this problem be caused from TP?
No. TP does not touch anything with the packages functions. It may be a result of server security rather..even if folders are 777, it will not work then. but I am not familar with the details of it..I changed host because of that in fact.
So u faced same problems?
Could u plz elaborate on this?
If u know anything specifically, I'll contact with my web-hoster
OK it seems my SMF fails on installing ANY package. the FTP logs show it is sending commands without parameters IE Mdir with no directory name. This Clearly is not a TP issue. but any help would be appreciated!
If u r certain it is not TP's fault then post here

I am trying desparately to upgrade to SMF 1.1 RC2 and TP V0.086, but for the love of GOD, I can't get the package manager to work.
550 Failed to change directory.
What in the world am I doing wrong...
I have 6 forums to upgrade and cannot do any as I can't get this through my testbed. The 1.1 RC2 upgrade goes fine, but TP is not upgrading....
You mean you cannot install TP v 0.8.6?
that is correct.
In using the package manager to upgrade TP v.8.6, I cannot make it work.
Please copy and paste any install errors here, but then cancel the install, and we will help you figure it out.
package manager - browse packages
I see TP 0.86 listed there. Click apply mod
prompted to enter FTP information.
Enter FTP information:
localhost port21
uname - xxxx
password - xxxx
local path to SMF /forum
I know the uname & pw are correct. Click proceed and get the same screen back with:
550 Failed to change directory.
I have CHMOD'd directories & files to no avail...
Look in my sig form Basic install guide link. You may have to do a manual install. It is not to hard really. But this sounds like a server configuration problem.
You could also try to uninstall the old tp first.
Fugi, I did not get any explanation on this..I can only guess it has something to do with a security module or something. But I know very little of these things.
how exactly does one 'uninstall' the old TP version?
If uninstall is not an option, then do a manual install.
okay, actually my server guys are working on the configuration to allow this to work.
In the meanwhile, I managed to mess up another testbed by upgrading to SMF 1.1 RC2 while still using a TP theme.
Now upon visiting it, all I get is:
Mercury /
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: tportal_version() in /home/jeff/www/cbr600rr.com/htdocs/forum/Themes/mercury_tp/index.template.php on line 346
any way to fix this one??
Yes, just add ?theme=1 to the string and install TP again before using mercury_TP again. As admin you should be able to do a index.php?theme=1 even if you don't allow other themes to be selected.
That was far from fun... SMF 1.1 RC2 went off as advertised, but we spent almost 10 hours upgrading 1 test bed and 3 other TP forums.
One of the forums (on a different server), I could not chown the files on it, so I ended up doing it manually. the manual install concerns me as there were 2 sections in index.template.php which I could not find... I checked the successful installs and did not see them there either. In any event, it did work, but I'm concerned that next time I won't be able to use the pkg manager either since things are so screwed up now.
If anyone has suggestions on correcting this, I'd love to hear them.
Ok found the source of the my problem.
the session.save_path directive must be set to a valid directory.
and it wasnt.
Thank you very much Bloc
About time someone did something right, Just kidding there are a lot of people putting allot of effort into CMS's and forum boards. But this project does seem to be a real winner and newbies should be at ease with it.
Do have one comment/question- I really would like to use Apollo but seems like there are a few problems with missing icons. I am using v 0.8.6 with smf 1.06 and Apollo tp. is there something I am missing?
What icons? If your missing TP icons then just copy them from the default theme to your apollo theme.
Yes Ichbin, those icons specific to TP such as under tools and on the settings tool bar! I haven't gone looking in the templet yet but thought it may be a path or file .ext name issue. However before I blow out an existing site and having to start over, I asked first.
Also one other point, I have been using Helios for awhile and was going to make a suggestion that a link mod somehow be made from the new post icons to the actuall post. I see that has been done on this forum..... is there a mod for this?.. I note many general forum users who have little computer experiance or background but are interested in being a member of specific forums find it cofusing to locate posts give up and just don't try never to return.. Linking from the icon to the topic instead of clicking on text lines would be a VERY GOOD THING...
Thanks for your help.
-----While I am here (4-1-06) Found the link idea I was referring to, s in SMF 1.1-------
I installed the latest version of SMF Forums and attempted to upload the package of TinyPortal. When i do i get the following error:

What have i missed?
Regards

Permission denied means just that... you don't have permissions. I do believe this is an issue with your host. Have you tried running the manual install?
Umm, when i upload it, it works except the frontpage is nothing but the newest post and a bunch of icons at the top, how do i get a sidebar and a link to the forums themselves in the main page?
More info ss2man44.... My guess (if you're not using the default theme) is that you need to make sure you're using a TP theme. You can't just use a regular SMF theme that hasn't been converted for TP.
I'm using every different kind of TP theme i can think of, first, helios multi, then, TechHead
BTW, my forums are at http://ss2man44.1cy.us/
http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=cat7
There you get the right themes for you SMF version and TP.
It seems like you installed the wrong one.
Go to your default theme, and remove all other themes, then install the ones from the link.
I know they are saying for 0.75, but they are uppdated to work with 0.86 to, i just tryed them :)
Wow, thanks, i tried it and it works, a while back i figured out how to get the images to work by moving them from the babylon theme to my theme
If you are happy, im off drinking my midnight tea now :) Glad it workt :D
Hi there,
Wanted to give this a go, have uploaded it to my package manager but have a problem installing.
Everything test o.k apart from items 9 & 11.
9 I can understand because I removed all but the default themes.
ManagePermissions.php fails. I am running 1.1 RC2 with various mods (24 in total)
Any ideas if there is a simple fix or manual edit I could do?
Lokking at the mod instructions is says "search for" 'profile_remote_avatar' => false,
)
My code looks similar like:
'profile_remove' => true,
'profile_server_avatar' => false,
'profile_upload_avatar' => false,
'profile_remote_avatar' => false,
'profile_ignore_board' => true,
)
,
'googlebot' => array(
'googlebot_view' => false,
There is obviously a part of a mod inbetween that and the )
What could I do? I dont really know what the brackets are for.
9. Execute Modification ./Themes/babylon/index.template.php File not found
10. Execute Modification ./Sources/Subs.php Test successful
11. Execute Modification ./Sources/ManagePermissions.php Test failed
12. Execute Modification ./Sources/Security.php Test successful
I suggest you take the manuall install package and run that instead when you have all those mods installed.
I think you encounter the problems just because the mods, the package manager cant find the strings needed to make the installation, and thats why you get the failed.
Download the manual install package and follow the instructions there and you will have TP working to :)
Many thanks, will give it a go.
I was thinking that this is going to be a big job, with me having to alter all the theme files etc. (and not knowing exactly what I am doing)
As far as I can tell that string I mentioned in the ManagePermissions.php is the only problem and the package manager can sort the rest out.
Is it not possible for me to manually add the
,
// TinyPortal
'tinyportal' => array(
'tp_settings' => false,
'tp_blocks' => false,
'tp_articles' => false,
),
'tinyportal_dl' => array(
'tp_dlmanager' => false,
'tp_dlupload' => false,
),
// Tinyportal end
After the bracket I mentioned?
I guess that the theme files are automatically updated, if all fails will uninstalling the portal mod revert everything back how it was previously?
To clarify:
The mod instructions state:
"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sources/ManagePermissions.php
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<search for>
'profile_remote_avatar' => false,
)
</search for>
<add after>
,
// TinyPortal
'tinyportal' => array(
'tp_settings' => false,
'tp_blocks' => false,
'tp_articles' => false,
),
'tinyportal_dl' => array(
'tp_dlmanager' => false,
'tp_dlupload' => false,
),
// Tinyportal end
</add after>
"
My Sources/ManagePermissions.php has this in that part of the script:
),
'profile' => array(
'profile_view' => true,
'profile_identity' => true,
'profile_extra' => true,
'profile_title' => true,
'profile_remove' => true,
'profile_server_avatar' => false,
'profile_upload_avatar' => false,
'profile_remote_avatar' => false,
'profile_ignore_board' => true,
)
,
'googlebot' => array(
'googlebot_view' => false,
)
Even a manual search for the
'profile_remote_avatar' => false,
)
within dreamweaver cannot find it because the close bracket is not where it used to be. ('profile_ignore_board' => true, is in between the search string and the closed bracket.
Shall I simply add it after the closed bracket where it is situated now?
Just insert it after
'profile_ignore_board' => true,
)
Its important that it comes on the next line of the last ) there.
Thank you, so you mean like this?:
'profile' => array(
'profile_view' => true,
'profile_identity' => true,
'profile_extra' => true,
'profile_title' => true,
'profile_remove' => true,
'profile_server_avatar' => false,
'profile_upload_avatar' => false,
'profile_remote_avatar' => false,
'profile_ignore_board' => true,
)
,
// TinyPortal
'tinyportal' => array(
'tp_settings' => false,
'tp_blocks' => false,
'tp_articles' => false,
),
'tinyportal_dl' => array(
'tp_dlmanager' => false,
'tp_dlupload' => false,
),
// Tinyportal end
,
'googlebot' => array(
'googlebot_view' => false,
)
Does that make correct syntax for the surrounding codes? looks like the google one may be affected?
Should I continue with the installation via the package manager with the error and then add the code manually or do it before hand? does it make any difference?
Your help is appreciated

Yup, thats correct.. ;) and I was about to point out the comma there, but you found it yourself.
Have a look at the left sidebar here.

Why other blocks have a gray color title, while others have white and how can I fix it?
Through css?
Thanks
Yes, through css. You need to specify how a class behave for links.
For example: .mytitle{ color: red;} will not make links with that class red. For that you need to add: .mytitle, .mytitle a:link{ color: red; }
How can I find the class of the titles of blocks content and Time, which I want to change;
Look at the generated html-source. (Search after 'Content' or 'Time', ... - your gray titles)
You will find the class 'titlebg'. Now just follow Bloc's hint and add this selector and style to your stylesheet.
Its already in the stylesheet, SMF also use this, so check that it doesn't look funny elsewhere. ;)
Lots of fun but I cant get it to work with Helios_multi 1.1 RC2. I probally missed some instruction somewhere. Can you direct me on how to fix.
Thanks!

this part simply doesb't exist here
Not really something you "have" to worry about if you don't plan on using the default theme. You can make all the other modifications to the files and then install a "TP" theme so you can see TinyPortal. I think on page 29-32 or so I actually posted the modified index.template file for RC2 if that's what you're using.
Sorry if this is a newbie question, but how do I know the installation of Tinyportal is successful?
Everything went fine. I go to the test directory where I installed SMF, load the index.php and I see my SMF forum, but I dont see any TP options? What should I see?
Thanks.
You should see side panels on the index page in the default theme.
Thank you for the quick reply. I must have done something wrong as I don't see that. I'll triple check everything.
You should also see a TinyPortal copyright at the bottom.
Well I found the problem, the Themes/default/index.template.php file is missing certain parts. Everything after:
<search for>
<img src="', $settings['header_logo_url'], '" alt="', $context['forum_name'], '" border="0" />';
</search for>
is completely missing. So I could not add the entries past this point that are required for TP. Is this a problem with SMF?
EDIT:
Yep that was the issue. Some of the lines are different, so if you search the whole line you miss them. I picked random keywords from the line to search for, and found the right ones. Working fine now.
Hi, I ran an upgrade of SMF 1.1RC1 & TP 0.75 to 0.86 - This resulted in my forum breaking.
I upgraded the forum to SMF 1.1RC2 and the forum started working again, but with no TP (and an error where the tp version displays).
Package manger indicated that tp 0.86 needed to be reapplied, so I did this - still no TP.
I then uninstalled and reinstalled TP - still no tp functionality.
I checked the index.php and load.php and neither had the TP sections. I manually added the sections and received an error stating that a tp settings table could not be found.
I'm a bit stuck about what to try next - any ideas?
Make sure you use the version for 1.2RC2. It's in the download area. Also you'll need to make sure you use compatible themes as well.
You can run the manual install file to update your DB tables.
http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item101
Thanks, I ran that, it said everything went OK, I still get this:
Table 'project3_yabbse.tportal_settings' doesn't exist
File: /home3/project3/public_html/forum/Sources/TPortal.php
Line: 80
I assume you meant 1.1RC2 and not 1.2RC2?
You converted your forum from yabb?
Anyways try running the manual install to update your DB and see if that helps.
http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item101
This one.
One strange thing is that much of the edits that the mod instructions mention for the theme template index cannot be applied as the lines in question do not exist. I have not modified the default theme from SMS 1.1RC2.
Yeah the forum was yabb a long time ago.
Anyhow, I found the problem, the TP files in Sources had not been updated, I overwrote them with the newer files and things now seem OK.
When I go into the admin page there is a TP menu header but no sub menus, I do not get any of the side bars on my front index page - I assume this is down to the index template not having the relevant sections...
If you look in the installations board, you will find several index.template.php thats done for 1.1rc2 and tp, just download the file and replace the one with yours or take this one instead
Strangely, if I switch to my tp 0.75 based theme, I get the sidebars.
That should fix it. Let us now if things still aren't working. If you converted from yabb, you must have an old/large site?
Can I have a look-see?
You need to update your themes to TP. Use that file G6 offered for your default. That si the default, right G6?
Themes/default 1.1rc2 with TP modification in there Yes :)
Thanks, that template does the trick for the default theme.
However, there are still no TP menu options on the admin page (just the main menu header), any thoughts? I've missed some edits somewhere maybe?
i think your files dont get uploaded properly, Are you sure that you dont have 0byte zero byte files there due to permissions?
have you made the other files with copy and paste coding ? load.php with more?
Upload all the TP files again and overwrite the existing ones, and then run the manual_tp_install.php again from your browser and see if it show up correct this time
go to admin > scroll about half-way down. Do you see "Tiny Portal" on the left?
PS, the forum is here -> www.project-ukf.com

Yes, but there are no clickable sub options.

Sometimes teh file is there, but says 0 bytes meaning they are just blank files. This sometimes happens because of latency somehwere on the net.
And you are applying ALL changes for the DEFAULT theme only yes?
@ G6
I like your avatar, lol...
OK, non of the TP files within the themes got updated, all working now. Thanks guys.
WOO HOO!

I've recently upgraded to tp 0.8.6 and SMF 1.1RC2 (thanks to the help of folks on this forum), and have noticed that my userinfo bloc no longer displays who's online or forum stats even though both of these options are selected. Anyone know what's going on?
Online users/stats was moved to stats block..but the options to show them is still in userblock. :)
OK, I'll turn on a stats block, thanks.
Oh dear, I know I'll get chastised for this post cos I already started a topic on it elsewhere, but I wish I'd done it here... *fades off into the distance with a loud 'ahhhh'!*
But Recent Topics in 0.86 doesn't tell who did the post - and okay let me say it straight out, I want this! (as in 0.95). I sort of can't believe I just have the topic and the date, not the poster.
Can someone tell me if this could be done without too much trouble (seeing all the code seems to be there ready to do it, but I'm certainly not knowledgeable enough to work out how)?
Thanks!

Nokonium, I'm willing to take that risk! (I'm reasonably adept at evading potential 'life threats'...) ;D
There are reasons why it will be quite difficult for me to update when the time comes :'( - which of course is a real pain - and I need the 'poster' in there now - well, real soon anyway.
And I'm also prepared to get down on my knees and

Thanks TechDomain, if that's what's required, then someone who has 0.95 may be kind enough to look for it for us, to see where it's implemented in
that version. *hoping* :P
Can you guys elaborate? You totally lost me. I see no explanation on what you're trying to do.

My understanding and what I'd like as well is the posters name in the Recent Topics block on the left side, like here in TP.
ahhh.... I see said the blind man. Thank you for pointing that out. If you want it in your Recent topics just open up the TPortalBlocks.template.php and look for this code:
foreach($what as $w){
echo '<div style="white-space: nowrap;" class="smalltext">
<a href="'.$w['href'].'">'.$w['short_subject'].'</a>
Change to:
foreach($what as $w){
echo '<div style="white-space: nowrap;" class="smalltext">
<a href="'.$w['href'].'">'.$w['short_subject'].'</a><br />
', $txt[525], ' <b>', $w['poster']['link'], '</b><br />

I have been having problems installing things with the package manager lately so I had to install the manual way. No errors came up. Nothing showed for it. Nothing was new in the admin panel eiher. I am using the forums defualt theme and I intalled through the package manager like it said in one of the posts and it surprisingly worked fine but still nothing to show for it
Read this, and see what steps you missed

I did all that, theres just nothing left for me to do
Does this work on RC3???
Lets say it's not MADE for 1.1rc3 or 1.0.8, it works, but will give errors, better wait a day or two more and be safe then sorry IMHO
I think you meant 1.1 RC3 Sweetheart.
Yes ???

Ok... But i would really need TP v0,9,5... Reeeeaaaallllyyyy baaadly... ;D
If I see one more request for TP 0.95 I'm going to suggest to Bloc that we not give it out, and that we just keep it for ourselves.... :)
Hey anyone know when TP 0.95 is coming out? :uglystupid2: >:D
Now I'm specifically asking Bloc to put you on the non-download permissions list for the next release punk! :P
