i have added paypal buttons on my site and all works great. I added a paypal button in an article with a drop down option but paypal are giving me errors because weird text is appearing before the £ sign?? its a weird A type sign. This is stopping the button working?

I have searched SMF & TP but I can't see anything.

Any help?

Freddy

Try using :

£

To show the pound sign.

What code are you using, could you post it here. using the
code here
tags

Or try £ which is the HTML Number for the £ sign

So where the   is should that be a pound sign?

With this sort of code? Html its best not to use in the editor

this is what I see if I change them all to the £

blink2010

I don't know whats going on with it? I can't put a £ sign in and it ends up with one of those funny (A )s in front

Did you try turning off the editor as Les suggested above? Tinyportal / Article settings / Use the WYSIWYG editor. yes / no.

The editor has been known to cause problems. ;)

blink2010

nope every time I create a HTML article and use the £ this is what it ends up looking like on the live article. Ã,£

blink2010

What language and character set are you using on your forum? Also, what is your database character set?

blink2010

Hi Ichbin

    * Server: Localhost via UNIX socket
    * Server version: 5.0.91-community
    * Protocol version: 10
    * User: *******@localhost
    * MySQL charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)

I am using English on the forum. I don't know where to find the character set in the smf admin?

blink2010

Sorry I just found this post. I will come up with another solution for now. Thanks for a great portal. O0

blink2010

Hi just to let you know I run

1.1.13 smf & 1.0RC1

I sorted the issue by converting the Database & Data to UTF-8 via the Admin CP . Remember to select it from the drop down box. :-\ O0

IchBin

Awesome. Glad that fixed it for you.
