G6 is right, but maybe you could you build a article page with the external links for those downloads for your users to click on?? Just a thought ... ???
thanks
Mm, I guess what you really seeking for is a Link Manager then, rather than a Download Manager...
Arg, this is an extremely basic function. I have many files distributed throughout various servers. I should be able to reference files not in my immediate tp-downloads folder! There are bandwidth limitations on my server...
PLEASE PLEASE make this work in the next release! Currently the downloads section is extremely ill-featured...
Hence the reason it is called BETA SOFTWARE! Please be patient as this is all done on EVERYONES FREE TIME.
I understand that this is beta, :P I'm just asking for it to be high priority...
Priority is one thing a Beta is..
a beta? :D
The terms "alpha", "beta", and "release candidate" are so badly abused these days. Who remembers when alpha and beta releases were not publically available and release candidates meant a final version was just hours or a day away?
Gotta love the ever evolving programming world.
Please work on this, :P I have all my files hosted remotely and so far the download section is somewhere south of useless.
I would love this feature too in the upcoming release, would be very useful for my website :)
Would be a great feature to incude. :) Very usefull
I know this is going to sound like a smart ass but why don't you just find a good host/server?
we want to link to external websites not just our own files.
There are no feature in TP at this time to link to external downloads from other sites or servers.
Only internal links with in TP and SMF will work
Is it hard to code a modification so instead of upload you can submit an URL?
You can add an empty item

Yep, I have done it that way :). And in the "article" of the DL item I have put the url to the external download :). Sure, the Download-button will not work but that doesn't bother me, or my forums' visitors, that much :).
