Hello,

I am using:
SMF 2.0.15
Tiny Portal:1 5.1
Forum: https://iotforumbg.com/

I have set a Front Page where topics from a category are visualized.

The issue is that long subjects of topics are cutted.

Can it be set the length of the subjects?

Regards,

@rjen

Just to clarify... what topics subjects are you referring to? ( See attachment for clarification)

The title of the posts of the homepage (see marked 1) or the ones in the Recent Post block (marked 2)?

The display under 1 is no under control by TinyPortal, that is theme based... if it is the second you mean, need to check...

In addition: you are 4 versions behind the latest TP version... suggest to upgrade to 1.6.3...

One more thing: you seem to have removed the TP copyright from your site, which basically indicates you are not interested in our support... please be so kind to put it it back...

Hello,

I have paid for the copyright to be removed :)

Yes, I mean 1. If the subject is longer than 87 characters it is cutted.

I am just going to update to the latest version TP and check if the issue still remains.

Confirmed.  This info is posted in the team board, under "Paid: Copyright Removals."

@rjen

Sorry, my bad, missed that notice...  :-[

And with the answer to your question: that is the SMF standard behaviour afaik.
If you check the topic self you should see that it is also cut in the Topic display...

See example below: the topic display in SMF does that...
I specified a topic with 110 characters in SMF, and it just shows 80...

So if you feel it is a problem you may report at with SMF. It is not a Tinyportal issue / setting...

Nevermind. I found it. It's in default/Post.template.php

<input type="text" name="subject"', $context['subject'] == '' ? '' : ' value="' . $context['subject'] . '"', ' tabindex="', $context['tabindex']++, '" size="80" maxlength="80" />

change the "80" to the length of new topic/subject title you want.

Thanks for the help Kays.

Hi,

So far so good. :)

I have set maxlength="255" and made a test topic with 255 characters in the subject to check the result.

Here what I noticed:
- In the category que the subject of the topic is fully displayed with 255 characters.
- On the front page the lenght of subject depends on the zoom level of the browser. For example currently I am using Chrome:

If I set the zoom level to 25% - 235 characters are displayed.
On zoom 100% - 65 characters.

@rjen

That is the curve theme doing that.

The cat_bar and cat_bg class are set to a fixed Height in css (    /* height: 31px; */)
You can try changing that so the full text becomes visible, but I guarantee that you will get layout issues: curve is designed a certain way, and the background image used is not suitable for it...

It is different in SMF2.1,...

This is as far as I can help you: curve related issues really need to be addressed with the SMF team. And tbh I do not expect that anyone will change this ...
