Recommend A Page Block (with admin panel)
« on: May 06, 2006, 06:34:39 AM »
This free php script allows your web site visitors to easily recommend your web site to their friends and family. This is a simple, free way to get free expsoure and traffic to your web site.

Features and Key Benefits:

    * step-by-step installation instructions in PDF

    * Header and footer template files are included so you can easily match the design of your Tell a Friend page to the rest of your web site.

    * Easily set how many friends a visitor can recommend at once (up to 10). This allows your visitors to easily recommend your web site to their friends without the hassle of sending the recommendation one-by-one.

    * Your visitors can also add their own personal message to the recommendation email sent to their friends. This will help their friends know the email came from them.

    * The recommender will also receive an email after successfully completing your Tell a Friend form. This allows you to not only send an automated thank you email to the visitor, but it also allows you to place advertising in the email.

     * Full admin interface which gives you complete control of every aspect of the script

    * After successfully completing your Tell a Friend form, the visitor is automatically redirected to a web page that you set. So if you set your home page as the redirection URL, then that’s where they’ll go after successfully recommending your web site. You can redirect them to your home page, to a page selling your product or service, an affiliate product, or any web site you want.

Screen Shots: (reduced image sizes to fit screen - these are images from my page so the logo is my pages logo, you can set your own up easy as pie!)

Here is a better way to create a link! It allows your popup window to be "sized" exactly how you want it to be sized (just fiddle with the width and height until u get ur desired results. Be sure to replace the "http://www.yoursite.com/forum/recommend/" with the address location of where the script is on your server:

Popup window generator (2 bits of code will be generated just put them both in ur block)

Also here is a "thanks.html" page - download, unzip and put the addy of your logo in there also you can change the message in it - contains a "close this window" script in it :)

The thanks.html file should be set as the "return url" in your admin area for it to work.

Screenshot of thanks.html

PS: for the above code, please also create a small "recommend this page" button and name it "recommendbutton.gif" and upload to the same directory

PPS: here is a small button i made using the button generator on TP, u can use it if u like or create ur own
