so i've been playing around with 3d stuff alot lately, namely with cinema 4d. it's a blast! anyway, maxon just released demo of a new HAIR module, which is thrilling! it's the only big name app (amongst maya and 3dstudio max) that didn't have a hair module til yesterday! anyway, it seems to be much easier to use, like everything else in c4d, and i believe, better than the 3dsmax and maya fur/hair modules! anyway, here's something i threw together i thought would be cool to share. maybe there's someone else around here interested in 3d :D

wow..I tinkeded some with 3d, and I too like Cinema4d. Thought v8 was pretty good, but when i see its hair rendering here, then I am getting really impressed. ;D

how about figures etc.? How does it do there...?

cinema 4d is great for modelling. in fact, it's about 10x faster than maya or max because of its simple user interface. though you cannot achieve the complexity of 3dsmax or maya for some types of models (i.e. complex working robot models), i can see it coming in the future. there's a demo for release 9.52 out on the maxon site that includes the unreleased hair module.
c4d works real well for making characters (if that's what you mean by figures). there are some really cool ones out there, but unfortunately, c4d was not made for realistic character creation. it was used in monsters inc. i believe, one iof the few movies with c4d characters.

anyway i suggest downloading release 9.5 demo and trying everything out it's loads of fun! :D
