Front blocks, center blocks and articles

I've been having a play with the above and was wondering if, in a future release, you could enable the hiding of the front and center blocks, not only by actioning the forum but articles as well and the reverse, so that you have full control over what loads into the center of the portal.

Would I be correct in thinking that you will need to work in that direction anyway as you add new modulules?

yes, quite right. it would need more options, to really control it.
