Title: 100% CPU Usage
Post by: bulldog988 on February 18, 2008, 04:28:49 PM
hi,

i got this email from my host server and claim that the

Quote\smf\Sources\TPortal.php  which
caused 100% CPU.

the thing is.. i have been running it for about 16months and it was fine.. and i did not mingle with any of the scripts...

anyone can tell me actually what is causing the CPU 100%? i am running the smf1.13 and tp0.98 version.. my daily users online is about 50-60.. i got the shoutbox enabled.. and i have not deleted any of the shouts.. could this be the one affecting the cpu? and my shoutbox traffic is quite high..

please help me.. thanks in advance.. ;)

Usually this is a question that should be asked on the SMF boards... but unless you have some kind of script or other file added to you site that is causing this to happen you'll often find that its a way for your host to get you to upgrade the account you have with them.

hi,

i think so too.. but they quote me that it is the tportal.php which is causing that high cpu usage.

what actually does the tportal.php does? pardon me as i am only a newbie...

btw, anyone knows how can i restrict my members from doing too many search and shouting too much on the shoutbox?

recently i can see my shoutbox is heavily used.. maybe this is why it cause the cpu high usage..

if you have a lot of traffic the shoutbox requires a page load for every submission. You may want to look into a bigger hosting package if your are going over your limits. How many users you have on at a time?
