Intresting PhilH, is that where you work?
I have become comfortably numb!

Yes it is crip. The technology has been one of my greatest passions for the last seven years. I am please to be in an industry that can truly have a positive impact on our planet to say nothing of the benefits experienced by the users of the technology.

Very cool Phil! Thanks for sharing that, as I wasn't aware such things were marketed that much.

Geoexchange, aka geothermal is actually well known in some parts of the country but overall it is not a household word, yet. There is legislation in congress that will give us equal tax incentive treatment with the photovoltaic industry which will help. Europe has been aggressively employing the technology for years. Interesting fact, there are more ground source heat pumps in Sweden than there are in all of North America.

Glad you guys like the video.  :)

Wish I had known about this 2 1/2 years ago when my system was replaced.

How do prices compare to conventional Heat-A/C systems?

PhilH

1.5 to 3 times the cost of conventional systems depending on the type of loop.

Ken.

With the yearly energy savings thats not bad, it would only take a few to recover the cost difference.

Yes, ROI and break even points are excellent in most cases.

We were talking about geothermal technology on my site a few weeks back, it ended up being a debate about nuclear power.
It's in the Bitchin' Board and you need 100+ posts to view it.

Here's an extract:

Okay......

Just a question:

Would you rather say 10 million people dead, opposed to the whole entire population of the world? You do the maths  ;)  I'd say the fallout of the world is more damaging than a nuclear fallout.

I don't see your point.
We are looking into ways to harness natural energy in abundance all around us.. The heat from the Earth right under your feet can generate electricty and heating for your own home.

You do the math.

It actually turned out to be an interesting lengthy topic, but I won't bore ya'll with all the details.

Thats the problem. Fuel = Money, No Fuel = No Money.
Free energy is the answer, we have much of the technology in place to harness it.
Greed is the overriding factor, not votes. If money wasn't the issue, the recent smoking ban in public places in the UK would have been an outright ban.

Tobacco and Fuel generate vast amounts of cash and we have become reliant on for years. It will take generations to change that ideal.

If I and 50% of the population of the UK, hell even the world, stopped buying fuel from companies like BP, Shell and the middle east.. Now do the math.

Lets just say, what you are doing Phil is the way forward and it must be very rewarding   :coolsmiley:
