test on fresh smf  installation.

Install = fine
Uninstall = fine
SQL = extra tables are taken care of after uninstall.

Only thing that isn't fine is the uninstall status of package manager isn't resetted. It stay on installed status.

Bjørn

Yes, the package manager seem not to pick it up. I am working on that.

I am in the midst of adding a few things that will be up soon:

- centerblocks...for adding blocks above the start of articles/news.
- submsision of articles. Members that are allowed to submit will have an extra link in their user-info block.
- auto-close of left/right/both sidebars in different sections, based on where you are.
- first steps on a download manager.
- a better laid out content-block. CSS based list with hover perhaps. Its really a theme thing, but at least it can be improved in the default theme. Maybe as an option.
- getting all strings out in language files. finally. ;)

Will post more about this as it progresses.

OK...   just tried the install, here's what happened:

1) Installed on (package manager upgraded 1.0.3 SMF) with v0.4 and v0.5 update installed.
It seems to have installed correctly. However, the v0.5 upgrade in the package manager now shows an [upgrade] option...   If clicked, it succeeeds, and v0.6 upgrade now shows the [upgrade] option...   this, of course fails...

2) reloaded SMF 1.03 (full install) via FTP.
added the full v0.6 package
The package gave errors because of the existing tables. I could not see any issues... but since it errored, I uninstalled.
This removed the tables.

A reinstall of the v0.6 package succeeded

I still think the user block needs to be configurable.   Each bullet should be configurable as display/not display...   and the current date at the bottom should NOT be bulletted. :)

Bjørn

Thanks, Kindred. Those reports are helpful.

The suggestions for user block is good, I will take them in. Its a list that makes the bullets, but it can be refined and/or not using the list tag at all.

As for options...the things that are there is the same as user-info on top, so if you have hidden the top, users will not see the things you have turned off. But it can be done.

So, what your saying is, if I edit the user info in the default theme to display/not display certain items, it will have the same effect in the user block?

Hmmm... I could do that, but that brings up another interesting point...

Is there any purpose in having both the User Info, Search, Stats and News duplicated?

I think that TP modified themes should show one or the other.
Hmmm... I wonder if it would be possible:
If User Block is present, do not display user info at top...
If search block is present, do not display search box...
Same for Stats and News...

Or maybe, just assume that people will be using the blocks (as they will likely be doing) and disable those displays in a Tiny Portal modified theme....

<EDIT>

DAMNIT, I knew I had missed something!!!!

You already have the option to hide the top boxes!ÃÆ'ââ,¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ,  lol...ÃÆ'ââ,¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ,  good work, bloc!

<end EDIT>

Oh, and IMO, the upshrink buttons for the block columns need to be modified.
With > < arrows instead of ^ arrows...ÃÆ'ââ,¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ,  ÃÆ'ââ,¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ,  But that's just nitpicking. :)

Bjørn

:)

Yes, its in, and no, changing the code on top wont affect the user block.

What i meant was, as long as you hide the top for members, you have to show it in user-info block. You would have to watch out for hiding things members can't see at the top anymore, that was my point..

Kindred

actually, I disagree....

Personally, I don't see any need at all for the time spent online information.

and most of the time, I get rid of the "read last responses to your posts" and sometimes the "read posts since last time online"

Honestly, the only thing that I want in the user info box is the user welcome, the avatar and the PMs (and of course, the logout link)

This is one of the things I liked alot about the mambo login box...  each element is hide/show-able... so I can build it the way I want.

Bjørn

I am setting it up as an options for just the userinfo box, options will be visible when editing that block.

NightOwl

Kindred, when taking out some features according to your own need, that might taking out some useful features of other users' need as well. So, in your case, it should be done by modification of your own.

Bjørn

Thats why I am trying out setting all the things as options - in fact as "hide"-able, means on by default.
