When you want to create an article, you have 2 types to choose from: the pure html/javascript type or a PHP type. Both will share the same options, but there will be no special text editor for the PHP type. It will also not have a "intro-text" option available.
So..what can you do with for example a HTML article? These are the options you have when you enter the edit screen:
-
title is of course the actual subject of the article
-
use intro is a feature where you can specify a shorter text to be used in the category listing.
-
show on frontpage will make the article appear on the frontpage of TP. If you set the option of "use intro" the introtext content will be used instead.
-
date is good to set if you want to shift the order of articles.
-
category ..the spot to put your articles.
-
code modus is an easy way to change the article type. [0.9]
-
display will dictate how the article is displayed:
Use frame from theme - use a border around it
Use just the title - no border, only the title
Do not use title/frame - do not use either title or border
-
status implies whether the article is on or off
In addition there are a number of "visual options" [0.9] for the article, which you will most likely find to be quite useful. They are on a separate screen to not clutter the main edit screen:
- Show date ..you can turn off the actual display of the date
- Show title ...same with subject
- Show author ...and author
- Show linktree ..linktree is the navigation path
- Show top ..show or hide the top portion of the forum
- Show centerblocks ...means showing the centerblocks of course.
- Show rightblocks
- Show leftblocks
- Show all articles in same category ..this setting will make a listing of all articles on the right there.
- Show links to other categories ...to even see other categories, use this option
- Show comments underneath article ..an article can contain comments, and this is the on/off option
- Allow to comment? give you permission to comment on the article
- Do not collapse comments initially - keep it open
- Show ratings - ..here you can rate the article.
- Allow to rate? - permission to rate the article or not is here
- Use only this theme: this is a special option that let you set a theme for this article that will always override the member profile or a temporary theme change.
And last there is a small "preview" link on both screens, to make sure its easy to check the article when editing.
