Helios tp forum problem
« on: May 13, 2009, 10:16 »
Hi guys
I,m using the Helios tp for my forum and for the life of me I cant figure out how to get all the side blocks showing all the time when looking at posts, personal messages and things like that,

my second question, is it possible to get the arcade working with Helios tp?

Thx Ace.

OK, here ya go.

For the Arcade button:
Go to the TinyPortal button generator page and make one for the Arcade.
Then set your forum to the Helios theme and go...
Admin>Current Theme>... look about half way down the page for>"Use button 1". There are spaces for three extra buttons and you just add them as directed there.

For the blocks; you need to look at:
Admin>TinyPortal>Settings>Panels>... set your panels to show as desired.

Also:
Admin>TinyPortal>Block Manager>... edit any blocks and set those as desired.

All of the controls in 0.983 are fairly simple, you just need to look through them and play around with the settings until you get what you want.

Thanks for that Ken, now I,ve done the button generator bit and added it to my themes, but the button still does not show, now I guess this is because the link path has to be filled in?
as you can see I have used button 2 for the arcade,

Most likely the path to the image is not correct. You'll notice that it said to put the image in the images/ folder. I'm not sure you can put the path like you did, so I would try a couple of things. Take off the leading / and put this instead.
english/imagename.gif

If that doesn't work, move the image into the images/ folder and just put the filename of your button image in the path.

As IchBin™ pointed out the image must be placed in the "Helios_multi/images folder.
For the image to show you must place *only* the name of the image in the space provided. (arcade.gif... or whatever)
The theme has the link to the image folder built into the theme code already.

Also, you only need the relative link to the page if the page is in your site... "?action=arcade" in this case.

Just tried you link and see that you've made it most of the way.

For your Arcade button the link is showing as:
http://www.f1-sim-racer.co.uk/home/f1simrac/public_html/Games
The actual link to your arcade is:
http://www.f1-sim-racer.co.uk/?action=arcade

In your link address window you actually need... "?action=arcade" (without the quotes)

Thanks Ken, I,ve changed themes so nothing is showing at the moment, but I,ll switch back to helios and change it to what you have said, then I,ll try and get it to work on the other theme O0.
