I wanted to add a music/mp3 player to one of my block/panel

Underdog has made a mod for the player here http://askusaquestion.net/index.php?topic=1564.0 which should work with TP, but I have not tested it.

It includes the player in the mod package

will it slowdown my site? I have a one month old site with 650+ members, and some are suggesting an mp3 player to play on the background.

I think it would slow your site a little, all depends how many are playing the mp3, on the premiumbeat site they have a link to http://www.podsnack.com "Custom web audio players" they host the music for you and its free, maybe worth having a look at that.
