TinyPortal - or TP for short - is a portal extension for SMF, made to easily install through the package manager and it will add website orientated features to your forum. Pages, blocks and modules will add to your toolset to expand your site. 
OverviewIf you need extra pages, or areas around the forum to include information of your own, TP will help you with this. You can construct a whole site based upon the this, benefit from the already made SMF theme and of course still use the logging and security features of SMF. Pages can be categorized, customized and be different types even, to meet your particular coding demands. This might remind you a bit of a CMS, but although its not a true CMS the idea behind is the same: managing content. TP cannot work on its own, but thats a added benefit, in that SMF will always provide the security and administrative backend. 
HistoryBack in 2003/2004 there were already portal solutions for SMF available, but few that only worked as a mod within the forum software. There was however, one promising portal mod called MyIBPortal for SMF, but due to various reasosn it was removed by the author. It did inspire me (at that time a member of the Design Team at SMF) to try using the templates of SMF to start a "tiny" portal solution mainly through them. My drive was the layout aspect of it and thats how it started rolling.  TinyPortal v1.0 beta 4
